Virginia- I just this day read of Glynn's death and am so saddened. (I have been living in California since 2009 and had lost touch with Glynn.) He was a hero to all of us school boys in West Texas in the mid '50's, and my regard for him only grew once I came to know him as an adult, and as a friend, in Dallas. He was a warm and caring man, and adored you.

Dear Virginia and family, I just found out about Glynn's passing. I am so saddened to hear this. I had met him a few years back and really enjoyed meeting and visiting with him. I had hoped to know him better. We are both from the John King Gorham family, our grandparents were sister and brother. May memories bring you smiles and blessings from God give you comfort. He was a very special man and will be missed by many.

Virginia,
So sorry for your loss and Glynn's passing. May your family have the peace you need during this time. Many memories will bring you joy in the days to come as you reflect and remember those fun days we all shared at reunions and games.

I am shocked by Glynn's death. I did not learn of his passing until this evening while I was doing some research on the internet. Glynn and I attended East Paris during our early years. In 1957 Glynn came to Austin where I was living at the time to participate in the state high school championship football game against Corpus Christi Ray. Abilene won and I met Glynn after the game and we took a photo together. Later at Austin High that year in study hall, Saralee Concklin saw the photo of Glynn and I and asked if she could do a pencil sketch of the picture. It was quite good and I still have it today. I had also seen Glynn when he was an all-stater in baseball when Abilene played Paris for the state championship. Paris won that game and I still have the program from that game today. I will miss Glynn as he was one of my good friends in elementary school and I did my best to keep up with his career. I too when into athletics, but as a coach spending most of my career in the Austin I.S.D. Glynn was a great guy and my prayers and thoughts are with his family.

Dear Virginia,
I am Dudley and Pat's son Steve. My heart sank when I learned of Glynn's passing. He was always a large part of SMU going back to when my Dad started coaching there in '59. I remember hearing both your names in many of Mom and Dad's conversations. I surely thought you two were some kind of royalty. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and yours,

Virigin, I love my volunteer work at TSRHC.org, one of the best men I would ever meet was Glynn. My wife Mary and I got to attend some working and some social events through TSRHC, it was always a joy to see Virginia and Glynn. Prayers go out to the entire family for your loss. Glynn once told me to be cautious of a man who did not like children or dogs. I thank the Lord for giving me the time to know him, I am a better man for it!

I was a 1954-57 AHS student, and am thankful I was one of the many privileged students who are so proud of our high school years. Glynn had a huge part in making it the best era ever, in AHS history. His sportsmanship, athletic abilities, outstanding character, leadership, and pride of our school, made him a man we highly admired. I join you in mourning Glynn, who made the school great, for his Eagle classmates.

Not only a Great athlete but a Great individual. Remembering working for your dad but still getting some time in summer and Pony League baseball. Even though you were so good and I wasn't you treated me with much respect. Bringing out a few pictures with you, my cousin Clint Murphy and me will always be cherished.

Glynn was one of those rare men who was able to balance his remarkable record as a Texas sports legend with genuine humility. It was my great pleasure to get to know him and work with him in the Masonic Order, more especially in the Scottish Rite. He was such a dedicated member of both groups and I will forever remember his quick smile and his firm handshake every time I saw him. He always made me feel that he was glad to see me. They just do not make men like Glynn anymore.

Virginia & Family:
Glynn was one of my favorite upper classmen at SMU. He was hard to tackle, but I'm glad you did. You were his shinning light. He's at the big Tailgate in the sky now. We love you,

1954-57 were the Alice in Wonderland years for those of us fortunate enough to be in Abilene High. We reveled in the success of Glynn and the other members of the Team of the Century and thought we were on top of the world. Glynn was kind, unassuming and unbelievably talented. Our prayers go up today for Virginia and their family as we remember our outstanding classmate, leader and friend.
