Gordon L. Corson

NEWPORT - Gordon Corson, 77, died June 23, 2015 at a Portland hospital. He was born August 20, 1937 in Canaan, a son of Albion and Dorothy (Heath) Corson. He graduated from Bloomfield Academy in Skowhegan, Class of 1955, and served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War.

Gordon was a retired auto parts salesman and owned and operated several full service stations, as well as Auto Industrial in Waterville. He was a past member of the Waterville Elks and also belonged to an adult softball league in Waterville. Retiring in 2005, Gordon and his wife Sharon (Emery) traveled across the United States several times and made their winter home in San Felipe in Baja California, Mexico where they made many new friends. In 2010 they went fishing in Alaska with friends and visited 22 national parks.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters Cindy Locklear and husband Gerry of Shannon, NC, Angela Frame and husband Douglas of Belgrade, Gordon Corson, Jr. of Skowhegan; a step daughter Jennifer Whitley and husband Kevin of Londonderry, NH; sister Kay Fotter and husband Wayne of Pittsfield; brothers Ray Corson and wife Paula of Orono, Roy Corson and wife Beverly of Salem, OR; 9 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, his mother in law Clarice Hustus, brother Anthony Corson and son in law Don Hunt.

A memorial service will be held 11 A.M. Monday, June 29th, at the First Universalist Church of Pittsfield with the Rev. Margaret Beckman officiating.
