Dear Carol, Diane and family,
I am so sorry to hear of Gordon's passing. He topped the charts in my book. He was a major force in instilling the love of music in me and my (Taylor) sisters, most of whom he taught. We all loved Mr. Evans. I will always remember his great smile, his gentle spirit, his kind ways and his beautiful voice. You two were such a wonderful example of a loving couple. Cherish your memories as I will mine. My sympathy and love to you and all your loved ones.

Mr Evans was a wonderful, kind, patient man. It was evident just how much he loved teaching the children of Firwood UMC to sing and organizing the Christmas Pageant. He poured his heart and soul into the tradition and I’m proud that I, and my family, was a part of it. No one else could get my son to sing- just him. Happy Trails, Mr Evans, until we meet again.

Mr. Evans opened the world of musical theater to me as a student at Forty Fort High School (class of 1963). He played recordings of shows and as a result my family often went to NYC to see Broadway performances. I took my children to London over 20 visits specifically for West End shows. He had a passion for music and shared it wonderfully. He was a lovely gentleman.

Dear Carol and family,
I have wonderful memories of the years at Shavertown Methodist Church when Gordon was choir director and I was organist. He had talent for bringing out the best in everyone.
Please accept my deepest sympathy.

So sorry for your loss. Mr.Evans was one of my favorite teachers in 8th grade - teaching music. He was so enthusiastic and encouraged me to love music as well.
May he Rest In Peace

I met Mr. Evans at FFHS in 1959 where he was our music teacher and conductor of our boys seventh and eighth grade chorus. He prepared us well and we earned a first place every year at the Welsh Eisteddfod in Edwardsville. For me it was a hard decision to leave to play sports, we couldn't do both unfortunately. My sister Linda was in his beauty shop quartet and appeared on the Ted Mack Amateur Hour. He was a kind and gentle man and loved music. My deepest condolences to the Evans family, he will be missed by many of us that had the privilege of knowing him.

Gordie will be greatly missed by all who knew him. My fondest memories were of choir practice at Firwood and him trying to keep the back row of sopranos quiet. The world has lost a very kind and generous man. ❤

With music in common, plus the friendship of his son Stephen and daughter in law Donna, meeting Gordon was a special moment. Music and faith are a strong bond and immediately recognized. There is no doubt about his faith and love of family. I admired his love and stamina for all life. Blessings to you Gordon! You will enhance the heavens tremendously as you did here on earth. Love remains! We love you and your family! Diane and Randy

Occasionally I find myself humming the “March of the Men of Harlech, “ and I think of Gordon Evans, my music teacher some 55 years ago. Thank you, Mr. Evans, for teaching me a song I have used for years to keep pace when I cut my grass or walk down a fairway. Your voice cannot be forgotten. My condolences to his family. He was a fine man, and a great Welshman.

Dear Carole and Family, We were so saddened to hear of Gordon's death. He was such a great man and so talented and you were a great couple and family. Actually just thinking about you guys the first week in November because it was our 33rd Anniversary and we were looking at the Reception photos and there you were! Wow! How time flies. We were unable to get back to Pennsylvania due to COVID 19. So sorry we missed the opportunity to see Gordon again. Please know we will be praying for your family. Judi and Gary Landin

My deepest sympathy to the Evan’s family. I met Gordon when I worked at the Hallmark store in Dallas. He was such a wonderful man. We both were Welsh . He would always come in on St. David’s day, March 1 to pick up his Welsh Cookies I made him. He made me a tape of Welsh music that I will cherish forever.
