Gordon Everett Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Aug. 11 to Aug. 13, 2010.

Gordon Everett

Gordon Everett, 75, of Marysville, WA, was born September 8, 1934 and passed away on the evening of July 27, 2010. His son, daughter and wife were at his side. He will be deeply missed.
Gordon was born and raised in Tacoma, Washington. He graduated from Lincoln High School and then went on to attend University of Puget Sound and the University of Washington. He was with Grange Insurance as a claims examiner and was well respected among his peers in the insurance industry. He was past president of Seattle Claims Adjuster Association (SCAA) and stayed active in that organization even after retirement.
Gordon retired in 1998. After retirement, he devoted his time to serving his community. He was very active as a volunteer in the Marysville Police Department and later, the Snohomish County Sheriffs Department. He took a special interest in the Kid Care program, which helps law enforcement find missing or exploited children.
Gordon is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marianne; daughter, Karen Everett; son, Edward Everett; and grandsons, Andrew and Eric Everett; sisters, Joanne Hawn (Jack), Gayle Cammarano (Jim); sister-in-law, Janet Adams (Kenneth); along with several cherished nieces, nephews, and beloved friends.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Edward (Nip) Everett, in 2009.
In addition to his community service, Gordon enjoyed golfing, fishing and poker. He and Marianne enjoyed many RV trips all over the United States. He had a sharp wit and was well known for his clever sense of humor.
Those that knew Gordon are encouraged to attend a remembrance gathering held in his honor from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, August 15, 2010, at Legion Park in Everett, WA.

I had the opportunity of working with Gordon for many years at GIA. I certainly enjoyed my time working with Gordon and getting to know him and his family on a personal level.
Golfing was always a fun event when Gordon was around.
I will miss him deeply and am sorry I was not able to make the Memorial Service as I was out of town. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Gordon was a quiet man, an unassuming man whose core values were on display for all to see. He was a straight shooter and lived and breathed in the no BS zone. Gordon and Marianne were remarkable together, they silently taught us how a married couple should be. They truly were very happy together and set a wonderful example for their children as well as their grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He even had the time and patience to help a young nephew who could barely hold a fishing pole, let alone cast it. Some memories live with you forever. Gordon loved giving back to the community he grew up in, whether as a volunteer with a law enforcement agency or a civic group. Gordon touched people's lives in wonderful ways and yet never sought any attention for doing so.
Bottom line is that Gordon was a wonderful man, husband, father, grandfather and uncle. He will be sorely missed by all.
Goodbye Uncle, I hope the golfing is grand, the fishing special and the cards always aces for you now.

I knew Gordon as a longtime member of the Claims Community and sharing with me being a Past President of the Seattle Claims Adjusters Association. Thankfully, I had the opportunity to talk to him just prior to his passing. We both agreed that it was a rare opportunity to say all the wonderful things that are too often said afterwards, beforehand. It was a warm goodbye to a friend.

Gordon was a dear friend of mine and a wonderful golfing buddy.
My wife Dorcas and I always looked forward to the Christmas parties he and Marianne had. I also enjoy reminiscing about the fishing trips we made to Neah Bay with our families. It has been and is a privilege to know him and his wonderful family.

I deal cards at Tulalip Casino. Gordon was one of my favorite players. He would always update me on his poker room victory's. He was a great poker player. What a truly nice man. Many of us at the casino are very saddened by his loss. We will miss him.
My personal condolences to Marianne and his children. I will always treasure the necklace Marianne made that he gave me.

General Electric you will be missed. Whenever I had a funny or ridiculous claimant I would wish I could tell you about it knowing how much we would laugh about it. Those were the good ole days when we talked about our goofy claims. And the visits we used to have when you were still traveling over to the good side of the state!

We will miss you. Praying peace and comfort for the family.

I knew Gordon very early in my legal career. You could always count on him for his refreshing bluntness. As a baby lawyer it helped thicken my skin at a very early age. My partner, Don Gulliford, spoke highly of him and you could see that he was a hard worker and loyal to his beliefs. An asset to the industry. I will also remember how he use to tell me of his great success playing black jack post retirement.
