As a mature student at Concordia for 2 years I felt blessed to take many of my music courses from Professor Hafso. His genuine caring attitude and musical talent were an inspiration. My thoughts and prayers are with you all as you honour his life so well lived.

We can't think of our many years at Emmanuel without thinking of Gordon and the impact he made. What a kind and gifted man, so funny and witty too. God's angels are in for a musical treat! Rest in peace!

Our thoughts and prayers are with Gordon's family. . .

Although I have not had the privilege of meeting Gordon and Ardis Hafso, I have had the privilege of meeting Kyrsten, years ago, and the memory of those many gracious interactions will remain with me. I wish the entire Hafso family much comfort and may the memories of their gifts to you sustain you even as you mourn the great loss.

When I received the new of Prof Hafso's passing, I sat for awhile and remembered.... I thought of what a wonderful man he was. He inspired so many of us and we all loved him dearly. He made the difference in my life. He was that ONE teacher who genuinely cared and saw the best in you and helped you find that in yourself. His influenced has been carried with me throughout my life and I often would think of him and smile. I wish that I could be there today to honour such an incredible man, but I live too far away. But I will sing and continue to sing as he taught me.... with confidence and passion. Heaven is lucky to have gained this angel! Always remembered lovingly. I count myself one of the privileged to have known him like I did.

Professor Hafso will always have a special place in my heart and the hearts of so many of his former college students. He was a blessing to the Lutheran church, Concordia College, and the many choirs he led, and was a gift to all of us who were lucky to sing under him. He will be missed by so many. Just imagine the music in heaven now!!

For 6 years Mr. Hafso was my choir director at Laurel Hall. He was a kind, gentle soul who always got the best from his students by inspiration, not intimidation. I remember, coming from a single-parent, single child home, how fascinated I was by such a large, happy family...always wishing I could be a part of one. From the crush I had (and STILL have!) on Kyrsten, to playing kickball with Scott, just the most wonderful memories of my life. A sincerely wonderful man. Rest easy, sir. You're home.

Gordon was a gifted and dedicated musician, with a head full of tunes! We collaborated to write and produce an operetta when we were in college, "The Heartless Troll." In educational and civic theatre they have been singing Gordon's splendid songs for more than 50 years. Our two families have stayed in close touch over the years. My friendship with Gordon covers the bigger share of my life - 62 years - and still stands at "stage center" in my memories.

I have such great memories of Mr. Hafso. He was a wonderful music teacher and choir director for 12 years of my life. He and Mrs. Hafso gave us Heidi as a house warming present for our first house. She was a schnauzer that Mr. Hafso taught to sing. Huggggs and love, Don and Becky (Theroux) Gockel

We were soo blessed to have The Hafso Family as next door neighbors in N. Hlywd. for our childrens' growing up years! We will never forget the fun times--coffee--times--sing-a-long parties--Dick and Gordon talking over the fence long after being called to dinner--their cat that stole lingerie things from neighbors clotheslines & Gordon trying to return them--=etc. etc.

You all are in our thoughts & prayers as you mourn the loss of an extra special talented & fun person in your family!
