Gordon was first a friend of my sister, Joan WEINSTEIN, who passed away 3 years ago. They were friends from UNC Duke days. He became a friend of the whole family. We loved his annual card with family photos and his great sayings. He is missed. Condolences to the family.

Gordon visited us often at the Cherryville Rotary Club and we always enjoyed seeing him. He was such a friendly man with a great sense of humor. We will miss him and our condolences are with all his family, friends, and fellow Rotarians.

I knew Gordon as a fellow member of the 1949 UNC Freshman Track Team. Gordon's unbelievable performance in his very first race there left such a lasting impression upon me that I have committed the story to print and point to him as one possessed with an indomitable spirit I shared the story by letter with him last year when I finally located him via the internet. Gordon had a drive unequalled by anyone else I ever knew. I am truly blessed to have known him that long ago and look forward to the day I shall greet him again in the heavenly hereafter.

Gordon, I have known you a long time and will really miss you. I apologize for not being able to see you today but health reasons are keeping me away. You have a long list of friends and that is probably the best thing to have. Sorry to the family for their loss.

Our Thoughts and Prayers are with you all during this time of sorrow. May the Almighty continue to wrap you in his warmth and comforting Love, and guide you as you deal with the loss of your loved one. Mr. Hamrick was a Great State and Community Leader, but better yet he was a very good neighbor, and friend to our Parents. Although, Mr.G is no longer physically here on this earth, he has nurtured and planted seeds across this world of ours that will continue to bless many.

Jan and I send our condolences to the Hamrick family. Gordon was a special friend who brightened our lives. He helped me with my Banker's House project and I spent a memorable afternoon at his house on New Prospect Church Road. Hanging on to a 4-wheeler Gordon steered all over his property, was a real adventure. We had several great visits at Brookdale talking about Shelby and his family. We will miss him.
