Even in death anniversaries it is good to be reminded of the lovely friendship we enjoyed as your realtors in Montréal and Gordons keen Joie de vivre I hope you and your family are well. Are you still enjoying living on the west coast? Montreal is finally making the news as the hot spot to buy. And visit too! Hope you give us a call next time you come Big hugs Brian and Joan

Dr Gordon MacLachlan was my great teacher. He has inspired me so much and gave me tremendous support and encouragement when I was a PhD student with him. I will always remember Gordon, who was my great mentor. Yuk Shan

We will always remember Gordon as someone who, even though his taste in Scotch veered towards the lower end of the spectrum, appreciated the finer things in life: above all, his family, and then McGill, opera, good art, the eternal value of an original idea, and creative cuisine. Never again will we be served quail eggs and angel-hair pasta for breakfast. Hard to believe that we will never see that quizzical smile again, but it was a privilege to have him as a friend.

I just learned this saddened news today when I browsed the Gazette web. Ching-Lee, my wife, and I are extremely sorry to know Gordon passed away last month. Please accept our heartiest condolence to you and your family members. Prof. Gordon MacLachlan was my most-respected teacher, mentor and the one who had inspired and influenced me so much. His supervison and guidance on my PhD study at McGill in the mid 1970s had brought most profound changes to my whole life. He has been my role model over my past 30 years of academic life.

I recall happy memories of Gordon at McGill and his positive attitude to our libraries. I particularly recall his strong and sympathetic support for the School of Information Science (as it was to become) when that school was part of his administrative responsibility during a time of enormous transition in the profession of librarianship. I extend my sympathies to Sally and the family.

I am saddened by this news. Gordon hired me into the newly formed Department of Biology in 1971. Those early years of the Department under Gordon's leadership were exciting times. You and Gordon hosted some fine parties at your Stayner St. home! Gordon was a gentleman, a scholar, and a determined leader. I send my condolences to you and your children.

My wife and I are sorry to learn about Gordon's passing. I was the chairman of the Chemistry Department when Gordon was the Dean of Graduate Studies and Research. I was always grateful to Gordon's support and encouragement.
