Today I honor a priceless friendship that evolved into an unexpected respect for differences. We had very different political, religious, social, and family views, but found we shared the same basic values. I thank Gordon for the critical life lesson of finding and cherishing common ground. Miss you, friend!

I always admired Gordon for his honesty, loyalty, tenacity, and his dedication to truth and law. I learned so much about Gordon during my tenure as his campaign manager and friend......he was a very private person, and yet would surprise me every once in awhile and open up. He will always have my love and respect. I miss you terribly, Buddy!

Gordon and I were inseparable in high school and much of college. In high school we played tennis, schemed about girls, played pool, walked the streets trying to avoid going home and cruised Main St in his beloved Karman Ghia. That was probably the last small car he ever owned. He was thrilled when his Mom finally let him go out for football his senior year. Even in those days he could get a group of his friends wrapped up in his stories. We lost touch once he got into police work but I always thought we would eventually reconnect and pick up where we left off. They always say you shouldn't take friends for granted. I will find you again on the other side.

Gordon was a great friend. Through the years I learned that although we didn't agree on much or share the same views we could still respect each others values, we could still be loyal, and could still be there to help if one of us needed a hand. That, and laugh a lot. That's what friends are for. Till we meet again, Gordon.

I cannot begin to express how sad it is to hear you've passed. In life you helped so many, me included. When I needed help with a police abuse case you stepped up. When we were campaigning in 2014 AJ planned a BBQ out at the ranch and it was such fun, and I heard the words from you that showed you were the candidate who should have won. The night we drove down that dark road to mesquite and you had us all laughing so hard at your one legged goat killer stories, laughter that I will never forget. In life you always gave your all and were present with those who were given your time and I will never forget the gift of your time given to me. RIP Gordon...xoxo

I was ever so saddened to hear of the loss of my dear friend, Gordon. I was so blessed to know him with his thoughtful, devoted, dedicated heart since the 1990's when I worked at the City Attorney's Office to the present. May precious memories comfort all his family and friends as God brings Gordon to His heavenly peace and love. Will miss you deeply, Gordon!
So sorry that I will be unable to attend the celebration of his life for I must be in Chicago on the very same date and time for my aunt's memorial.

Gordon's debates with potential sheriffs overlapped my criminal justice studies. I will always appreciate all the things I learned as a result.
