Gordon McIlwraith

Gordon McIlwraith June 7, 1952 - June 30, 2008 Born in Glasgow Scotland, he was five years old when he immigrated to Vancouver with his family. He was a beloved son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Gordon suffered ill health for 10 years, he tragically succumbed to cancer. Proud to be a Naturalized Canadian Citizen he also loved the lore of his Scottish heritage. He is predeceased by his father John McIlwraith. He is survived by his mother Bridie McIlwraith, step-mother Dixie McIlwraith, sister Susan (Steve Trayler), brothers Fraser (Ari Woudenberg), David (Amanda). Also his four sons Andrew (Tanya), Ryan, Jessie and James (Mandy) as well as nieces and nephews Simone (Tim), Fraser (DeeDee), Janna (Eric) Euan and Lindsay, and two grandchildren Jordan and Talia, and cousin Bill. Gordon also leaves behind aunts and uncles and cousins in Scotland, Canada and USA and his dear friends Cindy and Logan, Kathy and her children. Gordon was an avid sports fan, and Jazz enthusiast he lived life to the fullest always marching to his own drum. A Ceilidh will be held to celebrate his life on August 17th, 2008 at 2:00 pm at 31 Lebarz Rd. In lieu of flowers, donations kindly accepted to Nanaimo Literacy Center.
