Kalona-Gordon K. Miller was born November 30, 1937, in rural Johnson, County, Iowa. The son of Emery B. and Mary Edna (Shetler) Miller. Gordon was united in marriage to Iva Virginia Overholt on June 17, 1961 in Hartville, Ohio. He was a life long farmer, he also raised German Shepherd Dogs, and drove for the Amish. Gordon accepted Christ as his Savior during a tent meeting and was a member Fairview Mennonite Church. Gordon and Iva led monthly devotions at Pleasantview for over 20 years with singing and scripture. He was diagnosed with Polio when he was 53, he always kept a positive attitude and never complained. He enjoyed singing, researching and was known for storytelling to his grandchildren about (the bear, wolf and wolverine). Gordon died on Friday, September 8, 2023, at Parkview Manor in Wellman at the age of 85 years.
He is survived by five children, Julia Rose (Beck) Maggert of Blackduck, MN, Serena Joy (Sam) Schwartz of Kalona, Starla Delight (Crist) Schwartz of Kalona, Royce Duane (Donna) Miller of Sarasota, FL, and Jarrell James Miller of Fortine, MT; 26 grandchildren; Kermit (Anne), Tyler, Stephanie, Pandra, Shane (Alaynna), Colton, Peter Gordon (Rose), Zebulon, Andrew (Avery), Matthias, Kezia, Johanna, Amber, Zachary (Danika), Blake (Brookelyn), Justin (Audrey), Brooke (Luke), Sophia, Brandon (Maddie), Jaron, Carson, Marissa, Tyrel (Cameron), Stetson, Ciara (Terell), Shyanne; 4 great grandchildren, Charles and Adeline, Amiet, Arysen and 3 sisters, Laurine Beachy, Edna Beachy and Dorothy (Alvin) Mast. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Iva of 61 years, a sister Eldora (Eldon) Swartzendruber, a brother Virgil (Jane) Miller and 2 brothers-in-law Walter Beachy and Alvin Beachy.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 am on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at the Fairview Mennonite Church near Kalona. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 2-4 and 5-7 pm at the Fairview Church. A memorial fund has been established for Fairview Mennonite Church or Pathway Christian School.
