One my childhood memories of uncle Gord is when he and family came to visit us at Ted & Jessie's farm.
Gord brought as a gift, an old white parachute! Who does something like that? What a wonderfully, imaginative gift.
Vivid images of John and I on lawn folding parachute into a tent.
As a young teen our family visiting with Gord's at the cottage by river. Though not even much of a swimmer, Gord
with his deep, reassuring voice patently coaching me first onto two then onto one water ski, imparting such a sense
of confidence and achievement.
Thank you uncle Gord.
I can but imagine for Gord's family and friends the joy and honor of having spent their lives with such a man.
Cherish your memories, through them Gord can live on and continue to inspire.

Although I did not get to see Uncle Gord as often as I would have liked he will always hold a special place in my heart. I will always remember the laughs and the kind words. He was an amazing Master of Ceremonies at my wedding. I am so glad he did that for me. Sorry for your loss. Our thoughts are with all of you at this difficult time.

I have fond memories being around the Powell family. Most remembered are the times spent on the Rideau river or their Ruskin home and of course Mr. Powell's (Gord's) booming infectious laugh and his broad ear-to-ear smile. To the Powell family, please accept my deepest condolences on the loss of your beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and all-around great guy.

Our family has lost its Patriarch. Our dad was a good man who was well loved by everyone that he met. He was kind, honest and had a great sense of humour. He was always there for each of us 6 kids whenever we needed him. His grandchildren and great grandchildren brought him so much joy and each one of them felt the same about him. We will always remember all the great times that we have shared with him and know that he is smiling down on us.

To my sweet sweet Grandad, you are silly, kind, thoughtful and a proud man. Thank you for so many beautiful memories. Thank you for raising my Dad, he is the best and you share so many of the same qualities. During our final moments together, you were still playing funny tricks on me, you made me laugh, and I am so thankful for that moment. I love you big guy. Xo

On April 13, 2016 I lost a man in my life that was like the North Star. He was my Father, like the North Star all I had to do was look up and he was there. When I was lost or needed help he was there. Now he is gone, but has not left me. I just have to look up and he is there. Through good and bad times he was there and like him I will be there. I will be there for my family and friends and for those who need my help. Like my Dad I will be there.
Dad you were the best Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather I could ever wish for. We will cherish you forever, you will never be forgotten.

Grandad you will be missed more than you could ever imagine. I will always reflect on the times we had together. You have been a major influence on the man and father I have become. You were the most kind and caring man I knew. Your smile could light up a room and bring joy to everyone in it. You put your heart and sole into everything you did from charity work to raising a wonderful family it was all or nothing. You were the first to lend a helping hand and the last one to leave never asking for anything in return. The world could use more men like you and I hope I can make you proud.
You will always be loved and missed.

We are thinking about you during this difficult time. It is not easy losing a parent. Keep your memories afloat and know he will be looking from above. He will be your guardian angel. He will always be around even though physically he will not be but know spiritually he will be there. You don't believe this until you have actually lost someone as close as your parent. Not a day goes by and we know my dad and Ed's mom are watching from above. Know your dad/father in law/granddad will never be far. Keep him in your thoughts and keep smiling. Stay strong and be there for one another. Take care, see you soon, Love from Crilly Family (Ed, Cathy, Corey & Geoff) Hugsxxxx

My Grandad truly was a very special man, in all of the ways that you could possibly interpret the word "special". He was a jokester, he was goofy, he was kind, he was stern, but most of all, he was a very loving man. I can remember him line dancing with Nanny in one of the community buildings in Florida, or driving us (me and my siblings) around in his golf cart in the park, showing us all off to anyone we could track down. He was so happy. "Look! My grandkids are here!!" he would say, and he would go on to introduce us by name. He would always get Garrett's name right but mess up the names of my sisters and I (Krissy, Kassy and Katie), classic!
Grandad and his La Z Boy, his beloved boat, his collection of pictures of his grandchildren and children, his infamous language impersonation (we all know what I'm talking about here), his pointer finger, his obsession with eagles and Hooters (yes, those obsessions are equal), his love for his Wife, children and grandchildren, his stories about landing planes on top of concrete columns, his laugh, his smile, his angry face. All of these things, and more, are what made Grandad, Grandad.
I could go on for days. Memories with him at their home on Pineglen, on the boat on the Saint Lawrence, and of course in Florida, will NEVER be forgotten.
To think that I only got to spend 26 of his 85 years with him is truly sad. I saw only a fraction of his life. The experiences that he lived will stay with him forever in his spirit and in the memories of all of us who knew him.
Two bucks Grandad, two bucks!!

Dad, I have such wonderful memories growing up with Mom and you, also all of the amazing times Paul, Kayla and I had on the boat and trips to Florida.
Words cannot express how much I miss you and love you. Every night I will look up at the sky(space) as Cole and Dustan would say and look for the brightest STAR and know that it is you! All my love!

Granddad, I'm sad to know that you are gone, but happy that you are in a better place. As I grow older I hope that I can be half as strong and resilient as you. You were stern, yet kind, caring, and wanted what was best for everyone. I will never forget you. I love you. Enjoy your well-earned rest.

Gord Powell, (grandad). He was a great man! A man of honour, pride, loyalty, success, courage, strength, unconditional love. Grandad and nanny Powell would come and visit me when I was pregnant with our first daughter. we would sit for hours and just chat. We would talk about life, marriage, work, family, and how it all effects us. I would just listen to stories. I loved those visits. The two of them would hold hands pretty well the whole time. What they didn't know is those visits I hold very near to my heart. They were there for me when I needed them the most. Now this sounds like I'm talking of my own grandparents. There not there my husbands. They were just that awesome.
Grandad from day one treated me as if I was one of his grandchildren. I loved him like he was my grandfather. He will be missed by many.
Rest in the sweetest peace grandad.
I will never forget you, and the impact you made on me.
