Irene, my sincere condolences to you and your family. I remember good times with Gordon at work in the Dep't of Welfare in the late 60's and shortly after in the FSI where I followed him in 1970. He was the first person to take me to a pow wow singing group on Red Pheasant back then, where I first began to learn about First Nation culture. I have always had a deep respect and in recent years a high regard for Gordon because of the kind, humble person he made himself to be around others. It is fitting that we celebrate a life so well lived. God bless and keep you and your family in this time of sorrow.

ALthough I never met Gordon Tootoosis I spent several months analysing North of 60 for a book I subsequently published. An analysis of his character and a picture of him appear in Outside Looking In. His gifts as an actor were extraordinary - among his many other gifts. I am sorry for your loss

I'm profoundly sorry to hear of Gordon's death. I had the opportunity to meet him at a film festival in San Francisco and he was so gracious. He and his fellow actors in North of 60 were a big part of my daughter's life when she was ill. He could never know how much that meant to our family.

Some people touch our lives briefly and leave a lasting impression. I met Mr. Tootoosis (and his family) when he made several appearances at the Golden Sheaf Awards. He was so kind and humble. The world is a better place because he lived. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

As a longtime fan of Mr. Tootoosis's as an actor, I was thrilled to have the chance to meet him a few years ago. (I often tell people I was more starstruck meeting him than I would have been meeting Brad Pitt!). He was dignified, funny, kind, gracious, gentle, generous...a beautiful person inside and out. I feel honored to have met him. My condolences to his friends and family. I know you will miss him greatly.

Having only known Gordon for the short time that I was property master on North of 60, I never had the opportunity to meet with his family. However I wanted to offer my sincere condolences to all who knew him well as he truly was someone whom I felt lucky to have met and worked with.
He was the only " bad guy" that everyone loved. I wish this was just another scene that could be turned around in the next script. . .

To the family of Gordon Tootoosis:
I had seen a few of Mr. Tootoosis movie roles and thought he was a good native actor, then I saw him in "Legends of the Fall" and really liked his role in it. But when I saw him in "North of 60" I was blown away. Even as a bad guy he did so much for that role and that show. I even believed he was trying to give Albert Golo a little bit of a heart, hidden as it was. Throughout the years I gained much respect for him as I heard of things he participated in along with the fact that he didn't feel he had to leave his home and people to be fulfilled in his acting. My thoughts and prayers are with your family as these days pass. May the joy and love he gave all of you overshadow the grief in your hearts.

Dear Irene and Alanna,
It has been so many years since I have seen all of you, but you have no idea how often you have been in my thoughts, so at this time, I want to let you know how sorry everyone in the Morgan family is for your loss. I have so many memories of the happy times with your family, learning to dance, playing with the girls when we were all little, staying with Grandma and Grandpa Seeseequasis and having Linda living with us. They were very happy times in my childhood and you were all part of them. You may be surprised to know that because of your family, I still attend powwows when I can and my son comes with me. I found a few old pictures which I will try to attach, but if I fail (I'm not very technical) please email me at [email protected]. You have all played an important part in the lives of my family and so please know that you are in our prayers. Much love,
Andrea Morgan

Our condolences go out to the Tootoosis family. I had the priviledge of meeting Gordon while volunteering at the SNTC in Saskatoon. He was amazing to watch when acting and a joy to meet. I have always been in awe of his talent and will always regret not getting to know him better. We should recognize how we have learned so much from such an amazing role model and mentor to all First Nations people as a whole. Rest in Peace, Gordon.

my prayers go out to gordons wife and family. As young aboriginal people we were truley blessed by what an inspiration gordon was, he is a great rolemodel and an extrordinary human with such a gentle soul. Although he now is on his way home gordon gave us all the gift of watching and learning but most of all enjoying his presence & entertainment. I saw gordon a few times once in walmart he was never too busy just to stop and say hello! Made my day and I probably told every native person I know, "Guess who I saw today?" An amazing impact, a lasting impression and a wonderful family is what he would like us to cherish...may the creator be with the family and help guide the way home

A terrible loss. Our condolences to the Tootoosis family. My wife and I just watched a movie the other night where Gordon exhibited his usual brilliance in that quiet, elegant manner. He contributed so much during his life and was an inspiration to many and brought joy in the exercise of his craft. I met many of the cast of North of 60 but never had the chance to meet Gordon personally. Our daughter - Michele Rowe - from Dalmeny knows Irene and she advised me of Gordon's sudden passing. He will be sorely missed.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
