Hi Gary and Keith and Karen,
I am saddened to hear of your mother's passing, but I know she lived a rich, full life. I just happened upon her obituary three days ago as I was perusing the Hunterdon Democrat online.
Gary and Keith, you may remember me. My name is Ken Stillwell, son of Art and Betty Stillwell. Gary, you and I used to play together when our parents visited. You came to our farm in Ringoes (and before that our house in North Branch) and we visited you in Martinsville. Our fathers were interested in farming and I believe our mothers went to high school and perhaps nurse's training together.
Keith, you were about my sister Susan's age so I don't remember you as well as Gary who is almost my age (now 74), but I do remember you because you tagged along with Gary and me. Karen came along later, but I do remember her being born. My parents too had a third child, Beth, who is 16 years my junior.
Eventually our families drifted apart and the visits stopped, but evidently your mom and my mom stayed in touch throughout their lives. I didn't know this until my mother died in 2000 at age 82. I got a phone call one day from a woman identifying herself as Grace Coddington. You could have knocked me over with a feather. She shared her condolences, and we had a lovely chat about family and old times. As I recall your father Bill had passed by then, perhaps not too long before. But your mom caught me up on you guys and recounted a few things about my mother.
Strangely enough, your mother then lived very near me over on Bissell Road, only a couple miles from my place in Cokesbury. We talked about a visit, but I, sadly now, never followed through. But your mom's phone call to me explained why my mother all her life knew what your mother was doingthey had stayed in touch.
So I hope all is well with each of you. Our family has been blessed and all is well here. Again, my condolences to you and stay well. With great affection, Ken Stillwell

I met Grace and Bill when I baby sat for their 3 children. My uncle Bob Byrne was in their wedding. Many years later, I worked with Karen on the Martinsville book, and got to meet Grace again. The same wonderful smile and grace that I remembered. So fortunate for her family and friends that she lived such a long life...
