GRACE GONZALEZ Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 28, 2011.
GONZALEZ, GRACE, 93, died on September 26, 2011 in Miami. Grace was born December 1, 1917, in Venezuela to Miguel and Cruz Gonzalez. She was raised in New York where she studied voice at a conservatory of music. She and her family frequently returned to South America and ultimately made homes in both New York City and Caracas until the 1940's. In 1948, she moved to Miami where she lived for the next 63 years. She took great pride working for the law firm of Smathers and Thompson until her retirement in 1982. Grace traveled extensively throughout her life and was a voracious reader of both the great classics and contemporary literature. She loved music (opera in particular), attended many performances at the Metropolitan Opera in New York and was a longtime subscriber of the Miami Opera. Grace is survived by her nieces Grace Vogelsang (Don), April Riley (Mike), Elaine Fannin (Ron); her nephews Frank (Teresa) and Andrew Zohn; her cousin Isabel Renouf (Ray) and many grandnephews and grandnieces. The family will be paying tribute to Grace on Sat., Oct. 29th. Funeraria Memorial Plan Coral Gables (305) 742-7141 View this Guest Book at www. MiamiHerald.com/obituaries.
