We were all privileged to have many “Mothers” in the neighborhood while growing up. Grace was truly my second Mother as I was left in her care for many years when my Mother Millie went to work. What better tribute is there than that! I learned to drink all of my milk, eat everything on my plate, garden, harvest the chickens, all from her. We got to use the garage for our plays – usually written by Garrison. All parents were invited. She truly cared; I will always remember her coming to see my Father before he passed away. She was worried that he wasn't going to make it to heaven and wanted him to get there. Another of our neighborhood matriarchs is gone. She will be remembered and missed. Connie Birk

To all the Kellior kids that I grew up with, I send my condolences and share with them all the memories of our happy childhood together. Your Mother nurtured and cared for me when my own mother was ill and hospitalized. She was a beautiful person inside and out and I know that she is now singing with the choir in heaven.

AT 6:15 A.M. each weekday morning, Minnesota Public Radio (MPR)'s Writer's Almanac allows me to drift back to the day's of St. Olaf's WCAL Radio and, especially, their Sunday evening Compline Service from downtown Central Lutheran in Minneapolis. For me, there was a hidden quality in each programming that made them do the same thing.

In a real sense, today's Writer's Almanac is Mother Keillor's program. That program turns out to be a wonderful tribute to motherhood.

You have done well, Grace Ruth Denham Keillor. You have worked hard.

You have truly found a good way to keep in touch.

And I am grateful.
