Agnes Thomas, 80, resident of Hyannis, Masachusetts, died on Saturday, November 27th. Grace was born on July 27th, 1930, in Middletown, RI. Her father Dennis J. Murphy and mother Grace Agnes Murphy raised her on Ogden Dairy Farm. Grace was the eldest of three children followed by Francis Peterson (deceased) of Newport, and Dennis Jr. of Middletown and Thailand (deceased).

Grace graduated from Albertus Magnus College, class of 1952, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts. She worked as a schoolteacher in Providence, RI, Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Newport and Middletown, RI. On April 22, 1961, Grace married Dr. William Joseph Thomas in Newport, RI.

Grace first lived with her husband in Newport, RI, and then relocated to Medfield, MA. After outgrowing their home in Medfield, they moved to Dover, MA, in 1967. They lived in Dover for over 20 years, where they raised their 4 children. Later in life, Grace worked as a bank teller for Baybank in Needham and Medfield, MA. After retirement, the couple moved to Cape Cod.

Grace loved reading, walking, swimming, gardening, book clubs, the morning papers and time spent by the ocean.

My heart, thoughts and prayers go out to you all. Although I did not meet her personally, I heard stories from Stephen and know that she must have been a wonderful mom becasue she helped Stephen to become the terrific person he is. Keep the memories of you mother close and she will never truly leave you. (Katie Carpenter)

Kimo said it so well. Impressively tolerant, endlessly supportive and always with her beautiful smile and warm and hearty laugh. She was a very special mother to so many of us crazy teens! I am so grateful to have enjoyed her presence in my life for a time. My sincerest condolences to all of you beautiful Thomases.

Oh, Thomases. That picture is perfect. What a spark Mrs. Thomas was. Kind, bright eyes and smile, hearty laughter, endlessly supportive, and impressively tolerant of a handful of hormonal, boundary-pressing teens, mother of a wonderful, active, kind and conscientious family. Her spark remains with you to share. Cheers to your legacy, Grace.

Dr. Thomas, Caroline, Bill, Jennifer & Stephen,

I know that I speak for the entire Goodwin family when I say that I am profoundly sorry for your loss. Mrs. Thomas was a tremendously kind woman who had an infectious laugh and (specifically Amy and I) have many fond memories of her from our teenage years.

I know you will keep her spirit alive by being the great people that you are.

Dr Thomas, Bill, Caroline, Jennifer and Stephen,

I too have fond memories of growing up on Saddle Ridge Rd. Football, baseball, flashlight tag at Thomas field. Your mom took care of more than a few scraped knees. I still think of her when I walk in the bank at Medfield center. My thoughts and Prayers are with you all.

Dear Bill,
'Grace' is one of the most beautiful words I've ever thought of, and your Mom lived up to its meaning in every sense.
Despite not having seen your either parents in decades, I've always remember the happiness, intellect and spirit of both your Mom and Dad.
Your Mom did a fantastic job of living life, and all of you, Dr. T included, are a living testament to that.

God bless and peace,

Kev

Dear Bill, Caroline, Bill, Jennifer and Stephen,

Life on Sunbeam Lane and in the Cobblestone Community has changed. The bright light Grace carried in her life and spread to those who knew and loved her has been dimmed. Our happy memories will keep her spirit alive.

I am filled with sadness for your profound loss.
Love, Sheila

I am so sorry to hear that Saddle Ridge has lost another special Mom that helped make many wonderful childhood memories during our years in Dover. I was fortunate enough to see the Thomas' a few times after Dover when I was living on the Cape. Grace was always upbeat and her smile and positive attitude were contagious. She will be missed by many!

Bill, Caroline, Billy, Jennifer and Stephen you and your families will remain in my prayers.
