I can’t believe it’s been seven years since he left us. Every time I drive down Faris Rd, I half expect to see him running. I just reread all the memorials written here and was reminded of how lucky I am to have had the privilege to have worked with such a fine man. He was an inspiration to us all. Dr Healy was a man that made you want to be a better person. I always just wanted to do something for him! So I made it my job to make him his cup of tea every morning when he came into the acute dialysis unit. It was such a small gesture, yet he made it seem like a grand gesture, every time. I will miss him for all of my days. A life truly well lived!

I was Grant's roommate at UNC/Granville Towers and shared the suite with Wallace and Mark (I think). Grant was definitely one of the most memorable people I have ever met and for all of the right reasons. He was a gentleman with all the old school qualities that implies. Mannerly, respectful, courteous, and sincere. Rare then and very rare now. I will never forget him and always remember the example he set and what a great person he was to be around.

It's been a cold and dark week in Spokane, Wa. When I received this anniversary note, memories of my college roomy brought a smile to my face and warmth to my heart. As we grow older, friends and family define our life. Thank you, Grant, for sharing some wonderful times. If everything works out, maybe we'll run again as long as you give me the traditional mile head-start.

It's hard to believe that he's been gone for 6 years now. So much has happened and changed since Dr. H went home with the Lord but there hasn't been a day that I haven't thought about and missed him. His knowledge was far beyond his time, the understanding and gentleness he showed to those he cared about was unparalleled, and his "Good Job" smilies he would give his employees were so much more than a piece of paper to us! You will forever be missed Dr. H!

Nancy and family, Wallace Mclendon and I were best friends growing up together. I got to be around Grant a little when I visited Wallace at Granville Towers. Even way back then Grant seemed to be a serious student and a cut above the rest. Wallace told me way back he had named his son.after Grant. I read about Grant in the recent Carolina Review. I am so sorry .

Grant Lund McLendon -- named after Grant -- is in the middle.

To Nancy and Family --

I was shocked to see that Grant had passed away. Loved his picture -- could still see his youthful smile after all these years. As you know, Grant and I were roomies at Carolina. We shared some wonderful times together. He was a bright, sweet, gentle man. And geeze he could run! I thought so much of him, that I named my son after him -- Grant Lund McLendon. I sent my son the obituary and said that he should be proud to be named after such a great guy. My family's picture is attached and my son Grant is in the middle. I am so very sorry for your loss. He loved you dearly.

What more can be said that hasn't been said in the previous messages. I worked with Dr Healey and at one time was under his care. I remember his quiet walk down the halls of GMH and his soft kind voice as he approached the Nursing Stations and his patients. My heart and prayers go out to his family.

Words can not express the work relationship we shared. Dr. Healy took me under your wings many years ago when I first started in dialysis; he have been a mentor, teacher and a great friend. You will and always be missed by "your girls" at Twin Oaks. I know that you'll always looking down on us making sure Tamra and I "doing work".

Dear family, I am so sorry for your great loss. Please take comfort in knowing that your husband and father was a fine, respected man in all that he did. He did not take his responsibility as a physician lightly. He was meticulous in all that he did. I never saw or heard him do anything that would cause his patients a moment of fear or uneasiness. He was sensitive to their every need. He was an unassuming and kindly man, not just to his patients but to the staff as well. He was our friend and we will never forget him.
