HERNDON, Va. - Grant Rollins Sleeper, 55, died on June 26, 2010, of complications from a stroke.

Grant was born Feb. 11, 1955, in Fort Worth, Texas, the youngest son of Raymond Starrett Sleeper, Col. USAF, and Christine Fernald Sleeper.

Grant graduated from Herndon High School, Class of 1973. He played basketball, ran track, and was an avid jazz fan. He summered with his family on Lake Winnipesaukee at Sleeper's Point in Alton, N.H.

Grant is survived by his sister, Jane; his brothers, Tony, Jack, Tray and Harry; and his mother, Christine.

There will be a Memorial Graveside Service in Laconia, N.H., at Bayside Cemetery on Saturday, July 3, at 11 a.m. There will be a Service of Remembrance in Herndon in August.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Grant's name to ASPAN, the Arlington Street People's Assistance Network (www.a-span.org).

I knew Grant in Arlington in 2008 and 2009. He had a really good heart. He even sent me a money order in 2009, which was above and beyond the call of a friend. May he find rest and peace now.
