Greg GRIMES Obituary
Born December 23, 1957, passed away quietly on July 22, 2013 in his 56th year after a brave struggle with a rare form of cancer. Greg leaves behind his best friend and partner in marriage Paul Moore (Parents, Richard and Barbara Moore of the Isle of Man), his mother and inspiration Valerie Grimes (nee Murphy), sisters Nancy (Jim Collins), Jenny (Rick Luscombe), and Wendy, brother Tim (Liz Hartt), and nieces and nephews Jessica (Graham Robinson), Amy, Ben, Oliver, Hannah, Leah, Sean, and Declan. Predeceased by his father Gerry Grimes. Greg also leaves a large extended family with numerous cousins and a great group of close friends. Greg took on life with a vengeance. He was strong minded and did everything in his own special way. He left an indelible impression on the world and he will never be forgotten. A visitation will take place from 12 noon to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, July 26th, 2013 at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home and Chapel, 1411 Hunt Club Road, Ottawa followed by a brief service in honour of Greg. Donations in lieu of flowers to the Cedars Cancer Institute at the Montreal General Hospital would be appreciated.

Jenny and family, so sorry to hear of your loss on my return from travelling. Knowing how close your family is, I can only imagine how deeply you will all feel this loss. We were so pleased to have had the chance to meet Greg on the Isle of Man with Paul. His humour was unique and we quickly made friends. He left a lasting impression on us with his larger than life character. Our thoughts are with Paul and all of Gregs family at this time.

I am so sorry to hear about Greg's passing. I have seen Greg just a couple of times in the last 35 years but we went to Highschool together at St Pat's & Notre Dame & then at Hillcrest. I have many great memories of Greg - all of them with me smiling!

We were all really saddened to hear that Greg had passed. It's been quite some time since we were together but we have so many wonderful memories of the time spent together when he lived out west. His mischievous smile reminds us of the times him and mom would talk for hours while we all listened intently. Every time he came it was like he never left. His talks always made us feel more up to date and part of our Ottawa family.

To all Greg's loved ones, especially Paul, I wish healing of the heart - and sore cheeks as you remember all the outrageous pranks and jokes you shared with Greg. He was the poster boy for "larger than life". I'm grateful to have revisited with Greg at the Hillcrest reunion. He took me to my first prom and we became friends.
