Greg Welch

Greg Welch July 20, 1954 - January 13, 2023 On Friday, January 13, 2023, Greg Welch, loving father and grandfather, passed away at the age of 68. Greg graduated from S.R. Butler High School in 1972 before going on to study Accounting at his beloved University of Alabama. After graduating from college, Greg returned to Huntsville and worked Procurement for the Department of Defense at Redstone Arsenal. As an avid Alabama football fan, Greg spent many weekends in Tuscaloosa cheering on the Tide. Greg was a long-time member of Huntsville Scottish Rite and the Shriners. Greg was also a long-time member of Willowbrook Baptist Church of Huntsville. After retiring in 2014, Greg spent his time doing his favorite things, including golfing and traveling. He absolutely loved being near the water, particularly the ocean, so one of the great joys of his life was getting to go on cruises with his family and close friends. Greg is survived by his daughter, Lacey Fraley (Gus) of Fayetteville, Tennessee, and grandson, Ford Fraley. He was predeceased by his parents, Peggy and Lee "Sam" Welch, of Huntsville, Alabama. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, January 19, 2023, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home, with the funeral to follow in the chapel at 6 p.m.
