Gregg Theiss Obituary
Gregg R. Theiss, age 51, of Erie, passed away Monday, April 7, 2014, at St. Vincent Hospital, surrounded by his family.
He was born in Erie on April 1, 1963, the son of Robert Theiss of Erie and the late Dolores Chriest Theiss.
Besides his father, he is survived by his wife, Christina Selleny Theiss, a daughter, Julie Theiss, two sons, Eddie and Joey Theiss, a sister, Mary Margaret Malue and her husband James of Millcreek, his mother and father-in-law, Edward and Evelyn Selleny, his brother-in-law, Tom and wife, Anne Selleny of Painesville, Ohio, along with seven nieces and nephews, Jennifer and Katie Malue, and Jonathon, Katelyn, Elizabeth, Christopher and Andrew Selleny.
As an active alum, Gregg graduated from Cathedral Preparatory School in 1981 and earned a Bachelor's degree from the School of Pharmacy at Duquesne University in 1986.
He was employed as a Pharmacist for Vantage Home Infusion, Select Specialty Hospital, Union City Pharmacy, and Corry Memorial Hospital, and formerly at UPMC Hamot. He was a proud past President of the Cathedral Prep Football Boosters and Northwestern Pennsylvania Society of Hospital Pharmacists.
Gregg was a dedicated member of Saint George Church. There, he participated in SGYAA, Men's Council, Bocce and Golf Leagues. With his wife, Chris, he chaired parish picnics for many years. He loved being a part of the Cursillo and TEC/DME communities. He also was a member of Times Old Newsies.
Gregg loved attending his children's school and sports activities, especially cheering on his sons playing on the football field. He will be dearly missed by all of his family and friends.
Thank you to all the ICU nurses and doctors at Saint Vincent for all they have done in taking care of Gregg.

We are so sad to read of the passing of Gregg. Reading all the entries in his guest book, he was all of these things and more. We met Gregg through Cursillo. Gregg was always bigger than life, he had the best smile and laugh. God has one fabulous angel in heaven with him. Theiss Family, I had worked with Gregg at Hamot many years ago. One of my fondest memories is when I went to the WQLN Auction to pick up an item I had won. It was a print by Jim Sabol, local artist. I was thrilled to buy it. I saw Gregg there, also picking up an item he had won. We started talking about Jim Sabol. So Gregg gave me 2 prints he had acquired years before, and I had them framed as well. See, a giving heart he had. RIP Gregg, you will be sorely missed by all that had the privilege to have know you. We lost a great man this week that my wife and I were able to call a friend. We have known Gregg for almost 20 years. Gregg always was able to brighten up the room with his laughter and wit. It is with a very heavy heart I write this... Gregg was a beautiful human being. One I could definitely count on for a hug, support, and an ear to listen. Our connection went further than we knew... his daughter, Julie, went to school with my niece, Shannon.
