As a close friend of your son Martin, I know how proud he has always been of his father. Through your example and humour, you taught us (your son's childhood friends) much about patience, peace, music ... and of course metallurgy and stress-corrosion-cracking...

Dr.Biefer, you will be missed.

During those frenetic youthful days when I zoomed in and out of the Biefer household with Martin, I often thought how peaceful and quietly happy this man was. He was always engaging, interesting and interested. I learned to appreciate Greg more as I got older and spent a few hours with the family enjoying conversation, music and games. I will always carry with me fond memories of his smile, his gentle mannerisms, his curiosity and his genuine appreciation of those around him.

Although I did not know Dr Biefer, I mourn the passing of another heroic Canadian war Veteran. To you his family and friends I extend my deepest sympathies and to him, my sincere appreciation for the freedoms that we all enjoy and must never take for granted.

I will remember them.
