Gregory Carlson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 2, 2023.
Carlson, Gregory Thomas, passed away on January 24, 2023 at the age of 62, after a cardiac arrest. A long time resident of Highland Park, Illinois, Greg was raised in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, graduated from the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point, bachelor of science and from Indiana University, masters of public administration. Greg's interest in environmental protection led to a 37-year career at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. His life-long love of the outdoors resulted in many adventures canoeing, fishing, biking, kayaking, and skiing with friends and family, including a 2022 trip hiking and sailing in the Puget Sound area in Washington state.

Greg will be terribly missed in so many ways, whether it's sharing his new favorite song, the way he could fall asleep to any movie, and even his often hilarious tendency to cheat at board games. Greg found immense joy in roaming the woods, wetlands, and prairies. This is where his family likes to imagine him now, with his late dog, Indigo, by his side. Greg is deeply mourned by his wife, Deborah, their children, Henry and Clara, his mother, June Carlson, siblings, Catherine Okoro, Matthew (Kui Anna) Carlson, Marjorie (Timothy) Tiedje, Elizabeth (Joseph) Kurth, Jennifer, many nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins and his dog, Buoy. He was predeceased by his father, Roy Carlson. Donations in Greg's memory may be sent to the Aldo Leopold Foundation at E13701 Levee Road Baraboo, WI 53913 or www.aldoleopold.org.

A Celebration of Life memorial will be held in Stevens Point at a later date.
