Gregory Davis Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Dec. 23, 2022 to Jan. 1, 2023.
Gregory Lee Davis, 73, passed away October 13, 2022 at home in Ventura. Greg was born on March 18th, 1949 to Frank and Louise Davis in Ventura, California. After graduating from Ventura High School in 1967, he attended Ventura College until entering the Air Force during the Vietnam war . He became the crew chief on a C-130 and flew around the world including a tour in Vietnam- all the while writing to his high school sweetheart, Valli. They were married after the military in 1973 and settled in Ventura. Greg initially began working with Olivetti Corporation but was soon hired by the County of Ventura Information Services where he eventually retired after 35 years. Greg was an artist with many talents. He had drawn and painted since childhood and later bloomed into a rockhound, silversmith and jewelry maker. Greg and Valli looked forward to sandy, dry and secluded desert field-trips. Greg became an active member of the Ventura Gem and Mineral Society, volunteering for rock club field trips, fairground shows and serving as club secretary among other duties for many years. He loved seeing children sharing his fascination with rocks, gems and dinosaurs. Greg also served for years with his high school reunion committee for the Ventura High Class of 1967. Greg loved concerts, cars and family. He was renowned for how immaculate he kept his cars, especially his 1966 Mustang. He maintained lifelong friendships from school, the Air Force, work, and the Gem and Mineral Society. Greg is loved and will be missed by so many, especially his family. He leaves behind wife Valli, daughters Michele Quistad and Wendy Davis, granddaughters Alexa Quistad and Audrey Quistad, brothers Barry Davis (wife Veronica) and Alan Davis (wife Pam), sister Marjory Rose (husband Art), sisters in law Eleanor Dikes, Debbie Gogulski and Cherie Hill and numerous nephews and nieces.
