Violet W. Hurst, 91, of Ravenswood, formerly of Spencer, died December 4, 2022, in the Jackson General Hospital, Ripley.
She was born November 1, 1931, at Spencer, the daughter of the late David S. and Fanny McCune Lowe.
In addition to her parents,, she was preceded in death by her husband, Russell L. Hurst; daughter, Phyllis Millbaugh; two grandchildren, Darline O’Brien and Charline Hurst; one great grandchild, Kayla O’Brien; sisters, Pearl Lowe and Ethel McCune; brother, Orrie McCune.
Survivors include a son, Jackey Hurst of Ravenswood; four grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.
Mrs. Hurst was a homemaker and mother. She was a former employee of the Roane County Committee on Aging.
Her pastimes were sewing, making cushions and quilting.
A graveside service will be held at11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 14 at the Swank Cemetery, Speed, with Pastor Richard Parsons officiating.
The visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, December 13 at the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer.

We loved Miss Violet and are so very sad to hear about her passing. She was a blessing to us and we always enjoyed her being sassy and her smile! She was always kind and she will be missed! Love and Prayers to the family.

So sorry for your loss. I use to help take care of a lady that Violet took care of long time ago in Spencer. She was a caring person. She would fix her things like zucchini bread which was delicious. RIP Violet. Prayers for the family.
