Gregory Krug Obituary
Des Moines
Greg Krug, 69, passed away on Monday, March 7, 2016 at the Veterans Community Life Center Hospice wing in Des Moines, from multiple systems atrophy. A Memorial Mass will be held 10 a.m. Monday, March 21, 2016 at St. Augustin Parish in Des Moines with inurnment at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery at 2 p.m.
Greg was born December 17, 1946 in St. Louis, MO to Kendal John Krug of St. Louis, MO and Lillian Reeves of Albia, IA. He was a 1965 graduate of Albia High School and had a 26 year military career. Greg first served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War as a B-52 mechanic and served an additional 22 years with the Iowa Army National Guard as a helicopter mechanic.
Greg married the love of his life, Mary Schleier, on July 26, 1969, in Albia, IA. They lived their 46 years together in Iowa City, IA, St. Louis, MO, Ankeny, IA, Boone, IA, and lastly, Des Moines, IA.
Greg and Mary shared four sons, Michael (Jennifer) Kraus and their children, Connor, Mira, and Cali of Saukville, WI, Eric (Patty) Krug and their son, Eric of Richmond, TX, Brent (Heather) Krug and their daughters, Kierstyn, Lauren, and Makayla of Urbandale, IA, and Adam (Katie) Krug and their daughters, Kiera and Brooke of Grimes, IA, and their expected son, Dawson, due in April. He is further survived by his two sisters, Frances (Scott) West of Newton, IA and Leslie Krug of St. Louis, MO; brother, Jeff (Jean) Krug of St. Louis, MO; sister-in-law, Laura Capaldo of Des Moines, IA; and brothers-in-law, Dr. Paul (Kathy) Schleier of Suffolk, VA and Jim (Amy) Schleier of Madrid, IA. Greg was preceded in death by his grandparents; parents; and daughter-in-law, Aimee Higgins Krug.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 20, 2016 at McLaren's Chapel in West Des Moines with a prayer service at 4 p.m. Memorials may be sent to Mary Krug, 3100 Grand Avenue 3F, Des Moines, IA 50312.

They were such a support to each other the last 2 years as they fought their separate battles with illness. I'm sure they are together in Heaven sharing old memories and watching over us.
