Gregory Meyer Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jun. 25 to Jun. 30, 2023.
Gregory "Greg" A. Meyer, age 36, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at his home in Cresent. He was born in Rhinelander, WI on January 6, 1987 to Robert Meyer and Becky Ison.

Greg graduated from Three Lakes High School in 2005. After high school, Greg made time for work amidst his ongoing social engagements, civic and volunteer involvement, and board service by working for Home Depot for 16 years. He was a proud and life-long resident of the Northwoods, serving as Town of Monico Supervisor and Volunteer Firefighter and Lieutenant of the Monico Fire Department. A vocal advocate for individuals with disabilities, Greg served as Chair of the Wisconsin Board for People with Developmental Disabilities; was actively involved in the Wisconsin Youth Leadership Program for many years, and graduated from Partners in Policymaking. He recently picked up part time shifts working for Hodag Cab Company which he thoroughly enjoyed, along with his fellow employees and getting to chat with all of his passengers.

Greg loved meeting and speaking to absolutely every person that crossed his path. He was well-known for his impromptu visits, calls, and texts, always ready with a joke and a smile. He believed that if one was good, having 17 was much better; his family is left with his loss, and the extra 16 bags of charcoal, or liters of soda, or boxes of cereal that they asked him to pick up on the way over. He cared deeply for his family, which was large and extended on his paternal and maternal sides. Greg was a devoted father, son, brother, uncle, nephew, grandson, and friend. His unflagging energy to make personal connections and serve his community will be greatly missed.

Greg is survived by his son, Liam Brazeika of Iron River, Michigan, mother Becky (Mark Schneiderwendt) Ison of Rhinelander, father Robert (Kathy) Meyer of Monico, brother Robert (Maeve) Meyer of Sun Prairie, sister Caitlin (Nathan) Lower of Monico, stepbrother Brandon (Natalie) Kovac of Rhinelander, stepsister Tabitha Kovac of Elcho, nephews Jensen Lower and Seamus Meyer, nieces Madeline and Amelia Kovac, grandmother Majel Ison of Crandon and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, Alton"Bud" Ison, Jr., Carol Ison, Daniel and Jeannine Meyer, uncle and aunt Jennie and Jack Ison, and cousin Sara Ison Schneider.

There will committal services at the Monico Cemetery on July 15 at 11am with Greg's party following at the Monico Town Hall - the family welcomes all to attend. Please RSVP to [email protected] or contact an immediate family member. You may leave your private condolences for the Meyer family at www.carlsonfh.com. Greg use to come to my office every day when he got home from school and sit in a chair by my desk and tell me what went on that day in school. He did this after the family sold the business and uncle Jack wasn´t there anymore and I guess I was a familiar person that always had time to talk with him. I sure know he missed his uncle Jack
