PROFFITT GREGORY B., ESQ.
Age 45, of Marriottsville, MD, formerly of Pittsburgh, PA, died Monday, May 21, 2018 at his home. Born April 10, 1973 in Las Vegas, Nevada, he was the son of Marianne Petro Proffitt and the late Ben Proffitt. He was the beloved husband of Kara Proffitt. They had been together for 24 years and married for 16 of those years. Greg was Vice President and General Counsel of Spartan Medical, Inc. and was previously employed as an attorney at Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis LLP, and Robb Leonard Mulvihill LLP of Pittsburgh, PA. He was a former U.S. Marine. He graduated from The University of Pittsburgh and Duquesne Law School. He was an avid Steelers, Penguins and Pirates fan and U.S. history buff. He was a devoted husband, father and brother. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sykesville, MD. In addition to his mother and wife, Greg is survived by his children, Alexander and Mia Proffitt. He is also survived by sister, Dr. Jennifer Proffitt; brother, Vince Proffitt; niece and nephew, Jordan and Jake Proffitt; sister-in-law, Amy Saylor; brother-in-law, Shannon Saylor; nephews, Logan, Austin and Ethan Saylor; and father-in-law, Ronald W. Coligan. He was preceded in death by daughter, Ava Maureen Proffitt. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 915 Liberty Road, Sykesville, MD with Fr. Neville O'Donohue, S.M. officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the JEFFREY N. ZUMBRUN FUNERAL HOME, 6028 Sykesville Road, Eldersburg, MD.
