Gregory Pugh Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 28, 2020.
" Our dear friend Gregory Patrick Pugh left us to make music on our own April 26th, 2020. Greg was a devoted father, husband, and bandmate. He was able to find happiness and spread joy in even the toughest of times. We will remember his long stories, smile, and ability to jam on for hours. Greg is predeceased by the wife he dearly loved, Betsy, and is survived by his sons Sammy and Jack whom he adored as well as his parents Harry and Pat and brother Mike. His friends will always remember the wonderful memories from the weekend long Chili Fests in Durham North Carolina. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that you give someone the gift of a musical instrument."

Greg, a wonderful son. who was intelligent, hard-working, cheerful, quick-witted with a great sense of humor, humble, kind and giving. He so loved his wife Betsy and sons Jack and Sam. You try to raise your children to be an asset in this world and Greg achieved all of our hopes and wishes. He had many health struggles in life to overcome, but he was determined to keep moving forward and was admired by many. A friend said he was a beautiful light in this world. And he touched so many people's lives. We can see him on a Saturday morning sitting in his wheelchair at the desk he built in front of the kitchen window. He would have a cup of coffee and look at his Post-it notes of future projects and decide which one to work on that weekend. maybe plant herbs and flowers, build a bookcase, or organize things in the kitchen to make it work more efficiently for him. He was always making the world a better place. He will be so missed, but we will always remember his beautiful smile and the joy he found in life and shared with others.

His grin Greg had a world-class grin that he would masterfully execute at any time or place to great effect.
His can do spirit coupled with a deep sense of curiosity made him a terrific team player.
I do not recall seeing Greg angry maybe quiet - but always positive, friendly, extremely courteous and kind.
And his bohemian Chili Festivals drew grandparents, grandkids and everything in-between a treat for all who attended.
My sympathies to Gregs family. Humans lost one of our very best.
But Gregs grin will remain with me forever.

I met Greg in the mid 1980's when he started working for me at Burroughs Wellcome. We immediately struck up a friendship that lasted for the rest of his life. Greg was smart, funny, talented, industrious, and a great friend. He was the most incredibly positive person I've ever met. In spite of the challenges and heartbreaks he suffered in life, his indomitable spirit always showed through. He was a truly inspiring person and I shall miss him very much.
