Gregory Resch Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Oct. 28 to Oct. 29, 2022.
Gregory Dean Resch, 76, of Sedalia passed away October 26 at his home. He was born January 5, 1946, in Kansas City, Missouri, the third son of Evan LaVerne Resch and Frances (Sheetz) Resch. On August 23, 1969, he married Tonda Dilts of Alma, Michigan who resides in the home.
He graduated from William Chrisman High School in Independence in 1964. He earned a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg in 1970. He began his working career as health and safety coordinator and production supervisor for Swift Dairy and Poultry Company in Sedalia. He also was a supervisor at Kelsey Hayes, plant manager at Cooperative Sheltered Workshop, and facility administrator and class I deputy juvenile officer in Sedalia. He returned to UCM and earned a masters in school counseling in 1998 and was a school counselor in several area schools for fifteen years. He was also a certified school psychological examiner. After retiring from public schools, he managed the Galaxy Theater for 8 years. He loved being around people and telling jokes and stories as he tore tickets.
Greg had many interests and enjoyed life to the fullest. He was an Eagle Scout in Troop 223 in Independence and was inducted in the tribe of Mic-O-Say as "Least Nine Oaks." He was the scoutmaster of troop 160 in Sedalia for many years.
His love for nature and the universe was evident in his enjoyment of hunting, fishing, canoeing, and camping. He traveled to the Boundary Waters several times with family and friends. He was very attached to his Old Town wooden canvas canoe. He frequently had a camera in hand taking pictures of earth's beauty. At one time, he had a dark room and developed his own pictures. If he watched TV at all, it was the history and science channels. He marveled at God's creation.
He had a woodworking shop and enjoyed the beauty of wood and what it could become. He made several chests, cabinets, bookcases, and quilt racks. He designed and stained all the wood trim in his home.
He was active in Community of Christ church holding the offices of Priest, Elder, and presently High Priest/Evangelist. He loved to preach and traveled to other congregations to share his testimony. He was the pastor in Sedalia from 1988-1993 during the time the current church was built. He taught many religious classes, worked with youth, sang in choir, and gave hospital ministry.
Greg was definitely a "people person" and had a unique sense of humor. He lived his life as a servant and witness of Jesus Christ. He will be missed by many.
Greg is survived by his wife of 53 years Tonda Resch, son Timothy Resch of Harrisonville, daughter Kendra Allan (Shaun) of Baltimore, Maryland; two brothers Garth (Paulette) and Guy (Pat); sister-in-law Katrinka Wiltse (Terry); 11 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother Frances, father Evan, and older brother Gary.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2022, at the Sedalia Community of Christ church followed by the Celebration of Life at 10:30 a.m. and then burial in Crown Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Eric Resch, Cody Resch, Chris Resch, Guy Resch, Trevor Wiltse, and Michael Cormican.
