Jessie Wilson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 25, 2013.
WILSON - Jessie "Maxine" James Wilson, 85, born August 26, 1927 in Miami, Florida went home to be with the Lord on March 25, 2013 at 3:20 a.m. She was known as Jessie, Maxine, Mamma, Gramma, and of her most liking, Great Gram. Maxine came to Jacksonville, Florida to be raised by her grandmother and aunts after the unexpected death of her 25 year-old mother. She graduated from high school in Dallas, Texas, where her father was living. Maxine was a diligent and dedicated homemaker to all whom she cared. Maxine enjoyed baking, shopping, and spending time with her family. Her grandchildren brought so much joy to her life, but her great-grandchildren took that joy to new height – that, only a great-grandmother could understand. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, Maxwell Henry James and Georgiana Sallas James; her step-mother, Polly James; her husband, Ben P. Wilson; and her great-grandson, Ben Cosmo Roberts. Maxine is survived by her sister, Georgia James; and her brother, Matthew James (Joyzell); her children Carol Payne (Tommy), Michael Wilson (Peggy Ann), and Tracy Wilson; her grandchildren Stan Raley (Leslie), Julie Hudson (Scott), Guy Payne, Allie Gass (Michael), Shad Wilson (Mallory), Amy Roberts (Mark), and Lindsey Wilson; and her great grandchildren, Shelby Hudson, Abbie Gass, Lydia Gass, Justin Payne, Brady Roberts and Bryn Wilson. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Hardage-Giddens Town and Country Funeral Home, located at 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jax., FL 32205. The family will celebrate Maxine's life on Wednesday, march 27, 2013 at Spirit of Life Lutheran Church, 2636 New Berlin Road, Jacksonville, Florida, 32226 officiated by Pastor Ellen Cross. A visitation will be held at 12:00 pm, with the funeral at 1:00 pm. It is requested that friends and family wear pink in honor of Maxine's favorite color. Pallbearers will include Michael Gass, Scott Hudson, Josh Livermore, Stan Raley, Mark Roberts, and Shad Wilson. Interment will be at the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church following the interment service. The family would like to thank every person who came in contact with Maxine while at the Atrium and under the care of Heartland Hospice. They are so appreciative of the support, love and care that was given during this very difficult time. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be given to Spirit of Life Lutheran Church Building Fund, 2636 New Berlin Road, Jacksonville, Florida, 32226 or to Heartland Hospice Memorial Fund, 8130 Baymeadows Way West, Suite 201, Jacksonville, Florida, 32256.

Dear Carol, Mike and Tracy, This is such a tough time for you as only you would know. There are so many times I thought to myself, I need to see her one more time. I regret i did not follow through. She was a special, loving caring aunt. I will truly miss her.

Carol, Mike, Tracy, so sorry to hear of another one of our Wainwright Moms passing. So many fond memories included her growing up. I am so glad that I got to go and visit with her last month. I will always remember her for her "Wit" and for her love for her children and grandchildren whom she so loved to brag about. Love you Mrs Wilson.
