Gregory, passed away on March 6, 2017 at the age of 68. He was a resident of Speedway, IN formerly a resident of Cincinnati. He is preceded in death by his parents Stanley and Ruby (nee Alderman) Staab and girlfriend Penny Stewart. Greg was the only child and was raised in Sayler Park. He grew up with Pete and Dave Rose and it was Mr. Rose that started his love for auto racing when he took them to Lawrenceburg Speedway in 1958. He worked as a mechanic for the City of Cincinnati for 25 years all while he pursued his love of racing. He competed as both a driver and a car owner, promoted and operated a racetrack and served as a mechanic and a crew chief. Greg also enjoyed baseball and football, enjoyed working out and a avid music fan. He also loved animals. Greg had an infectious personality that you couldn't resist! He never meet anyone that he couldn't find some common ground to start out on. Greg will be Sadly missed by the racing community and all his many Friends and Family. He Stayed a TRUE DOG to the End! Visitation for Greg will be held on Monday, March 13, 2017 from 4 PM to 7:45 PM with a Masonic service starting at 7:45PM followed by a celebration of life service. All will be held at Church on Fire Ministry, 10544 Harrison, Ave., Harrison, OH 45030. Burial will be at St. Joseph Old, West 8th street, on Tuesday at 10 AM. Memorials may be made to any animal shelter in Greg's memory. www.braterfh.com

greg staab or #44 greg was a great guy. worked for the city of cincy & raced at the burg in the day greg won his share. but i will tell you what if you needed anything greg would make sure if at all possible he would help. remeber once needing tires asked greg if he had any. he gave us more than we needed. the world would be a much better place if evrybody was like him. evrytime i go by saylor park i think of him he was a fixture of the neighborhood

I remember growing up down the street from Greg, and watching him race. He was like one of the family.

I never Knew you but I knew you the race driver
and I got to see you race at Tri County and maybe Northern KY Speedway but for sure that great dirt track in on route 50 just west of Cincy across from the now Casino
I'm your age buddy and those days of watching you guys can never be replaced or better then when you all raced
Thanks Greg for the many Memories of movies of my mind of you racing

RIP Greg. I think about the days when the Dog stopped at the shop to bench race. Life can be tough, but he ran a good race. I miss the racing. Maybe we can hook back up at the big one in the sky. God Bless Cliff Jacobs

Met him back in the mid 1980's I was just getting started in racing and walking thru the pit area at Lawrenceburg Speedway he would always wave or say hello. He was a super guy and a geat racecar driver. He will sure be missed. Rest in peace Greg.
