Gregory Trammell Obituary
Beyond his professional achievements, Gregory was an avid fisherman, golfer, and sports enthusiast. These pastimes were a reflection of his love for life and the joy he found in the simple pleasures.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara Trammell; his mother, Donna Trammell; his sisters, Mari Cabana (Ken), Vicki Bowen (Steven), and Lori Oswald (Greg); his brother, David Trammell; his sons, Robby Trammell (Andrea), Gregory "Bubba" Trammell Jr., James Trammell, Matthew Schulze (Suzy), and Jonathon Schulze (Megan); his daughter, Taleana Trammell (Alynn); and his eleven cherished grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Trammell and left behind a legacy of courage, love, and unwavering dedication to his family and community.
A service to celebrate Gregory's life will be held on Tuesday, February 20th, 2024 at 10am, at Christ Community Church, 4050 Colonial Blvd, Fort Myers, Florida. Arrangements are entrusted to Gendron Funeral and Cremation Services along with the Tice and City of Fort Myers Fire Departments.
The family invites all who knew Gregory to join them in commemorating a life marked by selfless service, a deep commitment to family, and a heart full of passion. His memory will be treasured and his presence deeply missed.

I recall when we first met our brother-in-law Greg at a large family gathering. After introductions, he initiated conversation with two teenage boys about the rural volunteer fire dept they belonged to. Greg spoke close to an hour with them about their training, experiences, etc. He showed genuine interest, and gave them positive encouragement. For this, and for how VERY devoted he was to Barb - he left such an imprint on our hearts. Truly one of the best! We love you, Barb! Carol W. and family.

My memories of 'Mel' are way back when my brother Cody brought him to our house after football practice at North Fort Myers High School. They played football together and he became a frequent visitor at our home. Mel was so polite and smiley. I mostly remember the long hair, that was the thing back then and he rocked it. He was a great friend, football player and just good people. And he apparently carried that on throughout his life, what a testament to just being a good person. It has been many, many years since I last saw him but have to say I am glad he came into my families life and left an imprint on our hearts

I had the privilege of learning from him at the fire academy. What made him unique and special was how he treated us. He never raised his voice or lost his composure. It made me listen more intently and was a quality I wanted to emulate when I got the opportunity to lead and teach others.
Another great quality he had was, when we made a mistake, we weren't allowed to say "I'm sorry"; we had to say, "I'm still learning". He spoke and taught about actions and intent. He provided an environment that was safe to fail and safe to learn.
Don't get me wrong.... we did screw up. When we did, he had the most unique and painful corrective act to make sure we didn't make the same mistake again. Stand at attention, clap your hands, and put your arms out to your sides with your palms up for anywhere from 10 to (what felt like) 20 minutes at a time. You felt the burn and he would teach us how to dig deep and push further than we knew we could - because we would run fires that would require that of us.
Though he leaves us, he lives within us; his legacy will live on. We are all still learning.

I'm so sorry for the loss. My dad worked with Greg. He was always and will always be family. I grew up with him as my uncle. He always could make me laugh. No matter what he always had a smile and was so loving and friendly. I remember when he helped my dad with building the house in Buckingham. He taught me how to make a potato gun!! Then help me and his boys shoot potatoes into the woods of his lots from my parents lots!!! RIP uncle. Much love

To Barbara, kids, and family,
You don´t know me, but your husband did. I started my career in 1999 with EMS as a 22 year old kid in downtown Fort Myers. Greg was one of the many guys from FMFD who I learned the ways of life working downtown from. He amazed me how he seemed to know everyone in the "Links" by name and who they were related to. He was so kind, caring, compassionate, and caring. He was an exemplary ideal of a true servant. Rarely did he complain, but found reason to do better. He was fair, firm, and steadfast. I am so very sorry for your loss, and prayers of comfort are offered. He was such an influence on me that I never forgot, and I certainly didn´t know him like you do. It doesn´t make it easier, but I want you to hear that your sacrifice of time during his career was something that carries on in those of us who knew and worked with him!
