Gretchen you are on my mind as I plan a memorial event for my sister Suzy. You were part of my family since 1970 and shared many
laughs and adventures with us. You were outstanding in everything you did and a joy to be around.

Gretchen was an incredible person & marketing genius. We met when she taught marketing at the Boston Women's Center. I wanted the information faster than the class allowed so I worked with Gretchen 1-1 and she told me I could do my own marketing.
She was right but I don't think I would have succeeded without her support as I launched my handyman business and later a non-profit for women business owners serving homeowners.
The world has lost a truly remarkable person, someone who always lent a helping hand to those in need. I'm glad I had the opportunity to work with Gretchen and proud to call her a special friend.

Gretchen was such a good friend to me! We lost touch. I wanted to add her to the Gould Academy facebook page. Today I was determined to find her on the internet. I didn't want to find her here. I am so sorry and devastated that she died with dementia. She was too young for that. What a terrible loss for you Anne. I'm glad she found you and that you were able to have an open loving relationship with her. I've never stopped loving Gretchen and I never will. I am so sorry.

I always thought I would see her again... Gretch! I spent the day after they found me visiting at her home at the beginning of my sophomore year and her senior year at Gould, to tell us her best friend ,my sister , was dead.
She was my biggest support through that wounded year and after for a number of years.
I watched the sunlight of that long day crawl across the wooden floor of the farmhouse.
She came home with me for weekends, she laughed so much and played the piano and picked up my parents and younger sister so much. I´m forever grateful and sorry we lost touch.

Almost 60 years ago, Gretch used to come to visit my closest friend´s family on Islesboro. She went to Gould with my friend´s older sisters, and how I loved her! She was so much fun and funny and she made us laugh and laugh! I remember her as if it were yesterday.
I am sending love to all who loved her.

In reading Bonnie's obituary, I discovered Gretchen's as well. My heart breaks for all of you at this multiple whammy of both deaths and the pain of seeing both of these vital, intelligent women fighting for their lives even as they lose ground. I feel the loss because Nancy has Alzheimer's and I have Parkinson's. Know that I hold wonderful memories of the time we took care of Alex and were not as prepared as we might have been for gender differences. Thank you for the ways we shared life. Love, Randa
