To my second family the Alcedo's,
Mom was such a wonderful woman and that is so evident in the wonderful family she raised. You have all made her so proud. She was a shining example for me as a woman and a mom. She was so warm and welcoming and always made me feel like a part of the family. I can't imagine a get together with out her, in the yard, frying the lumpia. With all my love and deepest sympathy.

It's difficult to imagine anyone kinder and warmer than Tita Oping. I feel incredibly blessed to have had her as an aunt. If I could have one wish right now, it would be to be able to tell her that. And to tell her that I'm also eternally grateful to her for blessing me with eight amazing cousins. I will miss my lovely aunt and I give all my love and support to my cousins and their families.

I took this pic of Tita the last time I was in Chicago. Love you, Tita. I will miss you. -Roby

Dear Alcedo Family,

I am sorry for your loss. I know it's hard to find consolation at this time. But remember Jesus words at John 11:21-24. You can find hope and comfort in the bible and through prayer.

Tita Upeng, long before the advent of facebook, represented a connection, a reminder of how we are family: to those whom we are separated by distance, to younger relatives we never had the chance to meet and who do not know we even exist , bless her soul. Like a book, she carried tales, of new or old familiar faces, to our side of the globe in her visits to Lipa. We deeply mourn the passing away of a kind and generous heart. She will forever be the memory of happier times, of Mirinda-flavored sponge cakes, of sugar-dusted donuts, of the cool morning breeze in the parang of Fernando Air Base. We grieve with Tita Sita, Tita Ching and Tita Cora ; with our cousins Jojie, Ayen, Von, Aisel, Cynchie, Nenet, Bobet and Girlie, her in-laws and her grandchildren to whom she was truly devoted. Though these will hardly ease the pain of loss, prayers and masses were offered in Carmel, Lipa for the eternal repose of her soul. A petition was passed for the cloistered nuns of Carmel to mention her in special prayers. She is enrolled in perpetual masses to be said in St. Francis de Sales Seminary. Also, a 30-minute period of silence was observed on Christmas Day in Lipa in her loving memory. Similar observance was offered in Canada. Our sincerest condolences. Mayet with Bien and Amby

Hugs hugs hugs to y'all. We know she fought with all she's got and that was not an easy fight. Time to join your Dad and our Maker.

May she RIP. Will miss you M Upeng. She's Our idol with her unwavering strength, love and devotion to all her kids. She set an example of a lifetime to many of us and taught us what courage and selflessness is about. Her heart was huge and bigger than herself.

As God has provided strength and guidance to Guadalupe to withstand all of life's trials and blessings, may the memories we've shared in this life with her during these years brighten our days as we go forward. God loves us all and will help us through these days of mourning into the celebration of the life that Our Friend, Mother and now Angel Guadalupe Virrey Alcedo was Blessed to live and share amongst us. May her rich heritage and love continue to prosper through the lives of each of her children, grand children, great grandchildren, other family members and the many many lives that she touched and enriched with her love and service.
