Guillermo Rodriguez Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 9, 2024.
Guillermo Adrian Rodriguez, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2024, by the side of his devoted son Aaron, who lovingly cared for him throughout his battle with cancer. He was born on September 8, 1948, in Havana, Cuba, to Maximo and Edith Rodriguez.

Guillermo led a life filled with dedication, compassion, and unwavering commitment to those he loved. He immigrated to the United States in 1964, embracing his new home with hope and determination. In 1968, he joined the U.S. Army, proudly serving his adopted country until 1970. He continued his service in the National Guard until 1977. He then worked for Kelly Air Force Base in civil service until he medically retired in 1993.

Guillermo had his daughter, Iris, in 1980, followed by his son, Aaron, in 1981 in San Antonio. Guillermo was a devoted father, always present at his children's milestones and encouraging them to pursue their dreams with determination and integrity.

Guillermo had a wide range of hobbies and interests that enriched his life and those around him. He was an avid typographer, artist, enjoyed politics and always staying informed about current events and engaging in lively political discussions, and watching Texas Country Reporter with his son. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and playing his ukulele. Guillermo cherished spending time with his friends and children sharing stories and laughter. His love for animals, especially cats, was well-known, a passion that began in his early years on a farm in Cuba with his parents and older brother Max. He spent his children's childhood engaging them in piano, painting, and sports.

Guillermo is survived by his son Aaron Rodriguez and daughter Iris Rodriguez, as well as his four grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Max Rodriguez, and his nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Maximo and Edith Rodriguez.

Guillermo's legacy of kindness, hard work, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Guillermo wished to be cremated and placed with his parents, who are buried at San Jose Burial Park and the family property.

Rest in peace, Guillermo. You will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
