Guy G. Garrison

Guy Grider Garrison, 86, Belmont, Mississippi, died Saturday, July 19, at Southern Magnolia Estates, Golden, Mississippi. He was born Aug. 7, 1927, in Moscow, Tennessee, to Walker and Annie (Bennett) Garrison. He worked in maintenance at Johns Mansville in Waukegan, Illinois, for 27 years. He also worked for Ford Motor Co. in Cleveland, Ohio, for 10 years, and was a constable in the City of Red Bay, Alabama. He attended the Cornerstone Church of God in Red Bay and the Waukegan Church of God.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 22, 1 p.m., at Cornerstone Church of God with Brother Rick Bradley officiating. Burial will be in Red Bay City Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, will be in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Opal (McKinney) Garrison, of Belmont; three children, Anita Grimes (Steve), of Phil Campbell, Alabama, Sharlene Funderburk (Larry), of Wadsworth, Illinois, and Guy Glenn Garrison, of Old Burleson, Alabama; six grandchildren, Steven Grimes (Lindsey), Noah Grimes, Timothy Grimes, Anna McDermott (Dr. William "Billy"), Garrett Zika (Amanda) and Erik Gonzalez; two great-grandchildren, Carson and MacKenzie Grimes; one brother, Demp Garrison (Ruby), of Red Bay; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Comer, Earl and Hudson Garrison, and one sister, Ruby Vinson.
Pallbearers will be Keith Grimes, Steven Grimes, Noah Grimes, Timmy Grimes, Jim Garrison, Austin Morrow and Tyler Morrow. Honorary pallbearer is Frank Garrison.
Public visitation will be today, July 21, 5:30-8:30 p.m. at Cornerstone Church of God.
