My own father (Clair) passed away in 2006 and was Guy's brother. Since Dad's passing I began to feel closer to Uncle Guy as Dad often talked of Guy especially in his letters home to their parents during the war. Dad told me of a time when he was unwillingly rousted out of his bed early in the morning after serving guard duty all night. He and the other soldiers loaded supplies and gasoline onto planes and gliders. Dad wasn't allowed to get any sleep that day and was very angry because of it all. It was later that he learned that the supplies were for Uncle Guy in the Ardennes Forest at the Battle of the Bulge. Dad said, even many years later "I felt very bad about how angry I got" and I could see it on his face. They obviously cared for each other a great deal and neither of them talked about it or even the war. I loved them both.
Sharon and Bob, I know my Dad was there for him.

Guy was a good man who spent his life in farming. He was the son-in-law of my grandfather's brother, Earl
Spahr. We spent many a good time at their home farm as kids. While Carol and I have Iost contact with Guy and
Annabelle in recent years, we often remember them and more recently Guy and pray for them. We are happy that he is now joining Annabelle and Stanley in heaven.

So sad to lose another of our greatest generation. Though I didn't know you, thank you for your service, sir. May you rest in peace.

I was introduced to Mr. Hoffman because he was related to my Aunt Hilda (Eurich) Spahr and my Uncle Bill Spahr. He was a good man and he will now join Mrs. Hoffman and Stanley. Kathy and I remember taking Mr. and Mrs. Hoffman to Uncle Bill's funeral luncheon at Allenberry and the nice time we had sitting and chatting with them.
