Guy Edward Matthews

Guy was larger than life.
He understood life was his for the taking, so he took in a large way & gave accordingly.

A river fashions it´s course
through sand or stone
to it´s liking.
For damns decay
at natures will
and rivers laugh at righteousness.

I met Mr. Matthews twice in life. Once in brief passing at a service for Abe Bagley, the second time was at a favorite restaurant we both frequented. He would call me Big Boy. Until one day he asked my last name. I told him Gillis and he asked if my mother was June Gillis. It was and Mr Matthews and his wife had just returned from a trip through Rome that my mother also was on that Chapelwood had sponsored. Turned out that Mr. Matthews had rescued my mother when a down pour opened up and she could not get a cab herself. I learned that Guy had made his driver stop in the middle of the road in order to get my mother safely and dry back to the hotel. This was the kind and generous man Mr. Matthews was. I´m going to miss him and his loud exclamation of Big Boy every time we saw each other

Guy was a wonderful, accomplished and loving man who will be missed by family, friends and community. Our deepest condolences and sympathies to Carolyn, Kelly, Heather, and the entire family.

Guy was a great man. He was always willing to help his Family, Friends, Neighbors, and supported many good causes.

He will be missed by many in this world, even Mother Nature is sad and shedding tears on the day of his memorial ceremony.

However I am sure he is in a much better place, feeling no pain or sorrow.

He is sitting with the Lord watching over his Family and Friends as always. Ready with guidance and advice when needed.

I loved this Guy. I remember laughing so hard with him and winking over some semi private wittiness. Made me feel smart. He was a treasured friend for Joe and a unique light on our world. Carolyn, Heather, and Kelly our love to you.nancy Smith

My condolences. I wouldn't be where I am today without Guy. He gave me a chance and threw me into litigation and patent prosecution. You're greatly missed.
