In memory of
Karla Allred Wilkes
April 23, 2007
Hello my old friends and next-door neighbors,
Our family just heard of the passing of our dear sweet friend, Gwen. I have so many memories of her. All great ones!! She was always, always so kind and gracious. In fact, I think if you look up the word "gracious" in the dictionary, you would find "Gwen Christensen". I consider it a great honor that I was a "backdoor friend" and could wander over there whenever I wanted to. Gwen was always interested in what I was doing. Always encouraging. Always a dear friend. The last time I saw her was at my mother's funeral. She came up to me with tears in her eyes and expressed her great sorrow that "Marguerite left her." I cherish that big hug she gave me that day. Like Nada, I know that they are laughing and rejoicing together with backs and knees that do not hurt. The Allred girls loved Gwen. We will miss her.

To our beloved neighbors:
I just found out about the passing of your Mother! (Too late to see you at the viewing.)
How we love each of you and wish we could see you to give you a hug. Your mother was always so gracious and kind to me. When I was near her she always made me feel special. It was a great talent that she had. I have very fond memories of chatting over the wall with Gwen, eating bowls of oranges she provided while Ann and I watched Lassie, the gorgous horses that Mary had (which Gwen was so proud of) and the porcupine that loved your dog! A favorite story of hers! She and my mother became dear friends as they neared the end of their life. I am sure that they are both enjoying seeing each other with a healthy body and mind. Two dear friends.
We love you so much and wish we could see each of you!! Our hearts are with you at this time.
Love,

I remember growing up on Cherry Lane, around the corner from the Christensens. Gwen stored her saltine crackers in the lower cupboards so I could get into them without asking. I will always remember how bright and loving she was and how comfortable she made me feel.
