Gwen Wheeler Obituary
Gwen was born on November 27, 1929 in Boise, Idaho. She was raised in the Thomas, Snake River area. She attended Wilson Elementary school and was in the last class to graduate from Moreland High School in 1948.
On November 16, 1948 Gwen was married to Larry E. Wheeler in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Gwen and Larry made their home in the Moreland area. Gwen attended beauty school in Idaho Falls after which she began her career in cosmetology. Gwen went on to become an instructor at Blackfoot College of Beauty and Charm Beauty School. While working in cosmetology, Gwen and Larry farmed and raised their family.
Gwen was a member of the LDS Church and served in various callings, but especially enjoyed working with the youth. Gwen was selected as the Flying Farmer Queen, served as a Girl Scout leader and was a dedicated member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.
Gwen and Larry enjoyed traveling the world and relished the many friendships they established throughout their adventures. Many of her summers were spent at the cabin in Island Park and her winters in sunny Arizona making sure to take in as many estate and garage sales as possible. Gwen was known for her great compassion, always willing to help family and friends in need. She also had a great love for animals.
Gwen is survived by, Darrin (Gina) Wheeler of Blackfoot, Loretta (Chris) Turner of Centerville, Utah and Bee (Mai) Lor of Fresno, California; eighteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Larry, her daughter Leslie Ann Dance, her son Steven Wheeler and her brother Bill Williams.
A viewing only will be conducted on Tuesday, March 5 from 6-9pm at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave., Blackfoot, Idaho.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the Primary Children?s Hospital.

Was sorry to hear about the passing of Gwen. I didn't know her but only of her because our relationship is 1st cousins. Her mother and my father are sister and brother. Aunt Veda was a wonderful person.
My condolences to the family in this time of sorrow but we know that she is in a much better place.
