It is with sadness we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Gwendolyn Marie Sorenson on September 21, 2015. She passed away peacefully at the Rockyview General Hospital surrounded by family following a short illness. Gwen was born on December 28, 1930 in Climax, Saskatchewan. She lived and attended school in Regina, Saskatchewan, graduating from Regina General as an RN before meeting her husband Clifford. They moved numerous times throughout Western Canada finally settling in Calgary for a third time in 1988 where they eventually retired. Gwen shared a love of animals, especially dogs with Clifford as well as golf and cheering on her Saskatchewan Roughriders. Gwen was an accomplished swimmer and lifeguard and enjoyed swimming weekly until her passing. She was a devoted wife and mother and often referred to her children and family as "Perfect Angels". She is survived by her five children; Jim Sorenson his wife Jayda Rosenthal of Calgary and their children David, Danielle and Tala; Don Sorenson and his wife Darcy of Edmonton and their two children Shivon, Kerstyn Sorenson and Mike Schopflocher; Shelley Hapke (Sorenson) and her husband Rudy of Edmonton and their three Children Nicole and Cort Sloan, Jaqueline Hapke and Riley Stefanik, their son Henry and Thomas Hapke; Judy Sorenson of Calgary and her three children Christopher Aziz, Chantal and her husband Jason Thorell, Stephanie Aziz and Giovanni Cuzzola and their daughter Giulia; Gary Sorenson and his wife Lori of Coquitlam, BC and their son Matthew and her sister Beverly Pray of California, USA. She was predeceased by her husband Clifford Sorenson of fifty-three years on January 30, 2006; her mother and father Edythe and Gordon Ramsey; as well as her father and mother-in-law Thomas and Pearl Sorenson; and her sister and brother-in-law Margaret and Harvey Sorenson of Vancouver, BC.
