What a great man...I remember him teaching us to pole vault off of the bleachers in first grade, showing us the art of riding inside a tractor tire, and sharing his photo's of the Olympics in Mexico which he attended. He had a tremendous positive impact for all that knew him and will be sorely missed.

I had the privilege of meeting Doc a few weeks ago while working on his property, even in that short time he left quite an impression on me that I will always remember. He left the world a better place. I am deeply sorry for your loss.

I will never forget Mr. Staples coming into my second grade class and reciting a poem or leading us in our J award tests. He was a lovely man.

To have Mr. Staples for a teacher was a honor. To have him as a friend was a gift. He taught more than the 3 R's. He taught life lessons which we all needed somewhere along the way.

I was a student at McCoy, Dock's first teaching job, when he came there in 1938 and have always respected and admired him. He showed us how to study and learn, how to work, how to play, how to live a good life. And finally, he showed us how to die. Rest in peace, Dock Staples, and enjoy all that heaven allows. You gave us much happiness and beautiful memories when we were young and thought the whole world was as peaceful and safe as our own.
