I am blessed to have had a father like Dad. He left a legacy of love, kindness and positivity. Growing up, I never heard an unkind word spoken. As children, he always encouraged us to seek out what was fulfilling and then he gave his support one hundred percent. In his last years, Dad reminisced about his life. He described how blessed his life was and had always been. Growing up in Brookline, surrounded by family and friends, being sent to Maine as a child to enjoy summers on the family farm, and even going to China during WWII, were viewed as blessed experiences. He loved his work with the United Way and filled us with stories of the day, the people he met or of an adventure on a business trip when we sat around the dinner table. Later we all grew up and went our own ways and Mom left. But Dad was blessed again. He met and fell in love with Margaret. Another chapter in his life began, this time blessed by having a family with Margaret and Russell. Dad loved having another little boy to raise. It was Margaret who urged Dad to write his first book about his life and then his second book about China. And it was Margaret's career which took Dad on great adventures around the country, around the world, and to China multiple times. They summered in Maine and Dad was able to reconnect with family there. Dad's example of appreciating life and the people in it has always been a guiding light to me. I am also truly blessed by his example, and hope that this will continue as his legacy through our family's future generations.

My father was a considerate, engaged person, who loved his family, his community, his country, and the world. He never forgot his family, friends and colleagues, keeping up an extensive correspondence via post and email throughout his life. He shared photos, clippings and keepsakes that reminded everyone who knew him that he was thinking of them on a regular basis. I miss him and his steady contact. Thinking of you always, Dad! With great appreciation for Margaret for the loving care and attention that she provided so selflessly. With warmest love, Leslie
