I met Mr. Jonson when he was the Minister of Education. His legislation made possible the advent of the Publicly Chartered School Movement. Our ABC School was the first and for gifted children when I was President of Action for Bright Children (Calgary) Society. The initial grades one to three, adding kindergarten, has grown to Westmount Charter School Elementary and now up to grade twelve. Thank you.

I just learned of Halvar's passing, and am saddened for the family and all who treasured him. As a teacher, I had the greatest respect for Halvar in his many roles with the ATA, especially as President, and then his service as an MLA, and Minister. May Halvar be at Peace and Comfort with our Lord, and knowing that he helped build a better world. Blessings..

Maxine and family,
I will always have such good memories of "Mr. Jonson" - my high school principal and social studies teacher. He, with your support, contributed so much to Ponoka and our province. I know my parents also had a very high regard for Halvar as a person and as a politician.

Dear Jonson Family,
So sorry for your loss. Halvar was a special man with many gifts. I hope we stay in touch as the older ones in the family are passing away. I am sorry we could not make it to the funeral as they suggest not being on the highway today at -30. I am only an email away [email protected]. All our family sympathy, Allayna Jonson

I had the pleasure of working with Boss as I called him when he was Minister of Health and other ministries. He was soft spoken, kind, generous with his time to me when I was a new MLA, thoughtful, funny and incredibly caring and smart. You will be missed my thoughts and prayers to your family. Halvar was a man of many talents - a good decent person with a quiet depth. He was diligent as an MLA and in every aspect of his life. He was also a capable deputy chairman of committees in those far off days when I was Speaker.
His smile and demeanour were evidence of a true gentle-man. Blessings.

I had the pleasure of working with Halvar many times, as his deputy in Health and as part of various groups when he and I were in different ministries. Halvar always sought to improve the lives of Albertans. He was honest, sincere, very hard working and highly respected. He represented the best of public service. We owe him, and his family, our deepest gratitude.
His passing is a loss to us all, especially to his family.

I had the honour of working with Mr. Jonson when he was Minister of Health. He was an excellent minister who cared deeply, listened to the pros and cons of an issue and worked hard to make the best decisions possible on behalf of Albertans. One of the good ones and a real gentleman. So sorry for your loss.

Dear Maxine and Family
I am so sorry to hear of Halvar's passing but now He is no longer suffering. It is hard to watch a loved one suffer when you know that there is nothing you can do but be there for them.It hurts alot to see them go but now he is with the Lord and someday you will see him again.Knowing that keeps one moving on from day to day. God Bless all of you. Love Lois
