Harold Brownlee Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 2, 2025.
Harold John Brownlee, age 84, of Rancho Santa Margarita, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on May 22, 2025, surrounded by those who loved him most.

Born on February 20, 1941 in Iowa, John was the beloved son of Harold Joseph Brownlee and Dorothy I. Pharo and brother to Janell Cox. A devoted follower of Christ, his life was a living testimony of faith, service, and humility.

John proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, carrying with him a lifelong sense of honor, discipline, and duty. After completing his service, he devoted his professional life to Beckman Coulter, where he worked faithfully for his entire 45-year career. His integrity, work ethic, and quiet leadership earned the respect of colleagues and friends alike.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, John was a true man of God, steadfast in prayer, generous in spirit, and grounded in Scripture. He was actively involved in the Mount of Olives Church, where he actively participated in the men's Bible study. He also served and was in leadership at Prince of Peace and Voyagers in earlier years. John lived out Matthew 25:40 by welcoming, loving, and accepting people where they were at and demonstrating Christ's love to them.

He found joy in the simple things: time with family, morning coffee while studying God's Word on the patio, standing on the sidelines of a grandchild's sporting event, floating on a raft in the pool, and offering encouragement to those in need.

He is survived by Pat Brownlee, his four children, Jill, Julie, Jodi, and Jamie, and seven grandchildren, Kyle, Nathan, Layton, Conor, Audrey, Elena, and Jacob.

A celebration of John's life and faith will be held on June 27 at 10:00 am at Mount of Olives, followed by a luncheon at Lake Forest Sun and Sail Club. His legacy of love, kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith will live on in all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Park Terrace Staff Appreciation Fund in John's memory. https://gofund.me/fdeb69d6

Beautifully written obituary. To know him was to love him. I miss him so much. I do take solace in all the beautiful memories we made, especially in these last couple years. I will treasure the memories and be grateful for thr long full life he had. He definitely lived his best life!

To one of the most amazing men I ever had the privilege to know. You were dedicated to all that you valued, a true believer in our Lord, a loving and dedicated husband, a supportive and loving father, a loving and caring grandfather, and a true friend. I learned so much from you.

I will miss our time together. We spent many a day watching sports and cheering together with a lot a laughs. We watched our guy shows such the The Pacific, Generation Kill, and our Patton Documentaries. We never got to finish our last one, and I will leave it that way, as it would not be the same. I will miss sharing our Marine stories and laughing as only Marines can.

Until we toast again, Semper Fi, my dear friend.
