Harold Clem Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jan. 17 to Jan. 18, 2024.
Harold "Connie" Clem, 82, of Alto, TX, passed away peacefully at his home near Alto, TX on January 11th, 2024 with his closest family by his side. Connie was a longtime resident of Brazoria County, TX where he left a lasting impact.

Connie was born in Pittsburg, TX the last of 6 children to Gerald and Beatrice Clem on September 30th 1941. He went to school at Anahuac High School in Chambers County, TX. He married Mary Ann Hayes in 1958 and later Billie Anna Lee Fields in 1963 . He worked primarily as an over the road truck driver with a stellar safety record, then progressed to industrial site facility management into his retirement.

He served in the Army as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division in Fort Bragg North Carolina. He and his bride Billie were heavily involved as tireless volunteers with the Brazoria County SPCA. He received multiple recurring safe driving awards from his employer which he took great pride in.

Connie is preceded in death by his parents listed above, sisters Arlene Galloway, Geraldine Bobbitt, Shirley Marshall, brothers R.D. Clem, and Ronald Clem, and one premature great Grandchild.

Connie is survived by His 1st spouse Mary Phillips, son Jimmy Clem and his wife Vicki, Grandchildren Melissa Calsadillo, Emily Buckley, Aaron Clem, Sharla Jarrow, Trenton Clem, and Kaleigh Clem. He was also exceptionally proud of the newest stars in the family; 11 great-Grandchildren who all knew him as 'Paw Paw."

It is widely agreed he was a kind soul who loved people and animals with reckless abandon. Let it be said of him as was said of his father before, "he would give you the shirt off his back" if you needed it. He will be greatly missed by all.

Graveside services at Old Palestine Cemetery are pending notification of his extended family and friends. A formal date and detailed arrangements will be made through O.T. Allen Funeral Home in Alto, TX.

The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Cherokee County First Responders, UT Health Center in Jacksonville, TX, and O.T. Allen Funeral Services for their deep compassion and professionalism during this difficult time of loss.

Memorial contributions are preferred in lieu of floral arrangements to your local animal shelter or humane society.

My parents lived up the lane and truly loved Mr. Clem as a part of the famiily. He was a man with a huge heart for people and animals and we looked forward to his many visits and meals together. Our grand kids knew him as Uncle Connie and he taught us all about so many things in life.
We would really like to keep up with you guys as we can and help you in any way, unfortunately my father Ronnie Norton passed away the end of July and we have not been able to get in touch with you. We may have a few sentimental things we would like to give you and would love to share so sweet stories about him and how loving and kind he was . I am I am Julie Rommie and Dottie´s oldest daughter please feel free to reach out any time. We loved Mr. Clem and miss he and daddy so much. My number is 903-262-7543. My condolences to the Clem family. Mr. & Mrs. Clem were my neighbors growing up in Lake Jackson. I always appreciated them both and their welcoming attitude. They will surely be missed.
