Our feelings and love for Hal cannot adequately be conveyed in words alone. Its those unique memories and moments in his life that will forever be with us.
I consider myself lucky to have been befriended by Hal and his family. There are so many stories that can be told about Hal, and how he would put himself in certain predicaments that would solicit laughter and subsequently give fuel for furthering it to another level. Needless to say its hard to hold back the laughter when thinking about his always having dog biscuits in his pockets even when he wasnt walking his postal route. He always had that smile that he gave to all without concern of race, gender, religious affiliation, or economic status. Hal represented a true unbiased and loving example of humanity that all that knew him admired with envy.
I know there are a lot of people right now hurting, because Hal was such a bright light in our life. Hal was the friend I knew would do anything for me, and I would do anything for him. He always wanted to be there for anyone who needed it, and was happy to share whatever he had. He was a gentleman with a gentle soul BUT he could also could be as stubborn as the day is long. Evidence of that would be, try and leave the bar without one last one.
While we all will miss him, we know that he is now in a better place in the loving embrace of Jackie and looking down at all of us and hopefully smiling over us as we feast on the many happy memories he gifted to us. He leaves an ever lasting legacy in his children Mark and Chris and his grandchildren.
There will never be another like Hal and we need to remember to have a little adventurer in our life and not take everything so seriously. Thats how Hal lived his life, and it worked for him. Lets celebrate his life and live in the moment, I know he will be along for the ride in our hearts.
