Harold Haggard Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 8, 2002.
HAGGARD, Harold D. Devoted husband and loving uncle, passed away peacefully in his home on November 10, 2002 at the age of 79. Harold had been living in Santa Rosa since 1945 after serving in the United States Army. He was a paratrooper with the 101st Airborne Division serving the European area from 1943 to 1945. He was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge and received the Purple Heart. Harold started working in Santa Rosa after receiving his general contractor’s license at the young age of 22. He and his father, Percy Haggard formed the company, Haggard and Haggard, and built many beautiful homes in the area. Harold later founded The Haradee Company, where he invented, designed and built sawdust collection systems for use in school woodshops, many of which are still being used today. When school woodshops became sparse, he founded a company called Custom Wire Cloth where he manufactured screen for the building trade up until the beginning of this year. He passed away peacefully at home after a long illness and is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 60 years, Kathryn (Katie) Haggard, many loving nieces and nephews, and many relatives and friends. Private family services were held. If desired, donations in his memory may be made to Memorial Hospice, 821 Mendocino Ave., Santa Rosa, CA 95401.
