Paula Mueller Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Nov. 15 to Nov. 16, 2004.
MUELLER - Paula Pearl (nee Petraroli) of Laurel Run Nursing Center, Fayetteville, PA, formerly of Carlstadt and Lodi, passed away on October 15, 2004. Born October 1, 1918 in Carlstadt to the late Anthony and Martha Marzorati Petraroli. Predeceased by her husband Theodore Mueller (1986) and her brother Leo Petraroli (2003). She is survived by her beloved sister Angela Stamm of Hasbrouck Heights. She was the cherished aunt of Charles and Mary Beth Stamm of Gettysburg, PA, Martha (Stamm) Cassens of Rochelle Park, Joseph and Linda Stamm of Franklin, TN, Theresa Mueller of Whiting, Lynn (Petraroli) and Ernie Saal of Fair Lawn and Sandy (Petraroli) Rivera of Richmond, VA. Pearl leaves ten grandnephews and grandnieces and six great-grand nephews and great-grandnieces. In addition to "spoiling" nephews and nieces she was also most caring to numerous cousins who will miss her dearly. Over the years Pearl was employed as a finishing seamstress working in Passaic and New York City. She was a member of the Ladies Garment Union. Later she worked in quality control at Becton and Dickinson until she retired. Following retirement she worked part-time at the Lodi Public Library. Pearl had a great love of animals which led her to actively support as a founding board member of the Bergen County SPCA and it's animal shelter. A true activist, she worked for legislation on local and national levels for the prevention of cruelty to animals including laws opposed to the vivisection of animals and also tirelessly protested at sites that engaged in hunting or cruel animal research. As a longtime resident of Lodi, Pearl was very active in the town's political issues. During her stay at Laurel Run Nursing Center and at Chambersburg Hospital she endeared herself to many on the staff by her gentle manner and wit. A Memorial Service was held on October 19 in the Chapel at Laurel Run with Chaplin Philip Zook presiding. A Mass will be said for Pearl at Saint Joseph Church, Hoboken Road, East Rutherford at 2 PM on November 20, 2004.
